Royal Zulu Warrior’s sire Mossman won a Grade 1 over a mile as a late two-year-old and as a three-year-old was placed in Grade 1’s from a mile up to 2 450m.

His damsire Wallenda won a Grade 1 over 2000m.

(Both above statements quoted from sportingpost)

Nuff said I think regarding his distance concerns but that doesn't conclude he will get the distance. We will have to wait and see.

Royal Zulu Warrior bumped some really smarts sorts last time out incl,
Gr1 winners, a Triple Tiara winner, a Derby winner, a Guineas winner, a Summer Cup winner and a few expensive buys (quoted from sportingpost)

Yes Mossman himself was versatile as he won up to 2040m a G2 to boot but was more effective in sprints, however his projeny shows a major tendancy around 80% for sprint milers.....those that have featured beyond a mile show major staying inflences in the dam lines....and true damsire Wallenda got ground too.....his ped picture says he should get 2000m.....running style debatable....if the pace is not on and the ground not too sticky he can quicken with others that will be saved for that final 300m.....this is going to be a tactical race.....::o

Agreed, distance is still a major concern though. If you watch the replay of the Charity Mile he was handy and Wagner and Love Struck set a decent pace. He took some work to get going and there were some runners not far behind who were starting to close very quickly like Whiteline Fever, Wylie Hall, Killua Castle and a few others so the extra 400m will really be a very stiff task. The breeding does suggest that the preferred distance is 1200m - 1400m and it shows in his pedigree. It will be rather difficult for him to win on the day one could imagine but that said like I mentioned earlier if you're a punter that pays to stay then this is definetely your horse. I strongly believe perhaps to my own ignorance that if he sees the trip he will win but it's a BIG IF. The more I look at this field the more I see just about any runner winning, can make a case for just about every single runner.

turffontein card not for the fainthearted and we will see a few favorites beaten...i like some real roughies that are well in at the weights and bred for sand/soft and dont have stamina doubts...some new champs may emerge from the youngsters ....
summercup will be a humdinger and i think the panel of soma/azzie/tarry/striker got a few wrong ...especially in the bigrace....just how i see it
