should owners start charging the operators and the bookies for betting on our horses?
why should they not? we the owner are taking the risk, not the operator
Don`t get me started on piracy, the last feck up cost the industry millions and achieved feck all..

I was pissed off last night
I won the Jackpot Quickmix and it took ages to get paid
I could only play a small % pick 6 at Greyville!
By the time i was paid out it was almost jackpot time, which is ridiculous

You have to be amused at those that insist that the Operators are the good guys and the Bookmakers are the bad guys (crooks, pirates, thieves etc etc )
The problem is the operators have gone to war repeatedly but have never won a single battle yet ,never mind the war!
If the defenders are correct ,the people organising the strategy must be replaced cos they are failing very badly !!!!!
(It was reported by Gold Circle that the present battle is costing R49m (last year cost + this year estimate and budget)...............imagine the "P" share and add that to the equation, and then ask yourself which idiots are wasting money)

Is it not relevant to declare an interest when giving an opinion........people who work for BMW don't tend to push Mercedes.........if I hear somebody trashing Mercedes ,I might react differently if I know they sell BMW's......no conspiracy theory(another term you guys in the industry love) but a bias perhaps!
Personally I would like to see more people from within the industry giving their perspective on the forum but being honest about their interest.
You mention later that "people will come and go" and you are right .......and many that have
I gone, were within the industry, but had independent thought.........!
It is clear that any pushing for better service has to come from outside the corridors and most is coming from people who love the game!
as 99,9% of the expenses come from the operators who if you go into their prospectus contribute 700 bar towards expenses off 5 billion in turnover while the bookmakers contribute about 50 bar off a turnover of 7 billion
Ah,so you work for a pantyhose Company........I would concur .......when I take a look inside your product all I see is arseholes and (?$&@s..........

Blonde, your "pantyhose" comment was obviously a smart arse comment ........I played along to lighten up the issue, but forgot how seriously you take this role you see yourself in the "saviour" of racing" ...........the best way to do that is try to influence your colleagues to form good relationships with customers - the more customers complain the more the operators seem to take the attitude of " it's our monopoly so it will be done our way"
("P"should consider what motivates SA breweries(another virtual monopoly) to spend millions on divisions competing with other divisions and trying to win over customers from
their own products.......it is a very deliberate strategy)
And the people aren't slating you as such!!!! ........ They are unhappy with your company's customer care philosophy, which ,unfortunately ,they seem to have convinced you is a reasonable one!

I most certainly don't believe I'm the savior for racing unlike certain people on this forum.

Not sure what you believe actually - one minute you are stating " people come and go but racing will go on forever " followed closely by a prediction that if people use the open bet there will soon be no racing to enjoy.
I think your first prediction is correct but I think the business model will be very different,in so many ways, 20 years from now.

P have many things that need fixing but there are also a large number of things that they are doing right.
Most of the complaints on this forum are legit but the reality is that local racing is not a money spinner outside of the broadcasting revenue associated with it.
A budget with income of R20 and expenses of R30 cannot be balanced by anyone, no matter how savvy you are financially. Two options, increase revenue or cut expenses, or both.
This is the reality that face racing and we all know how well the industry is doing with growing the customer base. Under these circumstances something will suffer and unfortunately it's the local product via the service experience.
The only lasting solution is getting more customers but given the historical performance it is seen to be throwing good money after bad.
Believe me I don't envy P and GC because it is tough going to make it all work whilst still having to produce the goods for shareholders.
