GB its GC and P that run our totes and they should no doubt be trying to get the dormant acc etc back up and running as should the bookmakers it seems at this stage that neither are going this route..in fact I had a perfectly active bookmakers account limited to such an extent that it became unusable...get this, The reason given was NOT because I was a regular winner but rather because a high % of my bets shortened in the betting, FACT!

Pretty hypocritical that the French and everyone else can play in South African pools ( I'm fica with a few bookies ) yet South Africans can't play oversees , Betfair, poker sites etc
I'm not anti the tote , I'm anti being told where I should punt

Rather take 1/10 fixed odds places than tote places.
Atleast if my bet wins that's a 10% profit I know I will get.
If you're brave take the tote places but don't cry when it pays R1 and you only get your money back.
So with the tote we're taking risk and if we're lucky enough to win there is chance you won't make a profit just stakes returned.
P and GC need the punters to survive.
No punters = No racing
Simple, the punter can survive without a punt but can P or GC survive without OUR money ?

Not as many dormant accounts as we would like to believe, once it's in your blood it's a hard habit to kick,
With our ageing customer base most dormant accounts probably belong to a few that have passed on.
Given the average age of the customer a long term view on anything customer related is 6 months to a year these days (tic)
Seriously, the local totes are doing a great job in many areas but their public relations is a nightmare that can be considerably improved.

Is it not relevant to declare an interest when giving an opinion........people who work for BMW don't tend to push Mercedes.........if I hear somebody trashing Mercedes ,I might react differently if I know they sell BMW's......no conspiracy theory(another term you guys in the industry love) but a bias perhaps!
Personally I would like to see more people from within the industry giving their perspective on the forum but being honest about their interest.
You mention later that "people will come and go" and you are right .......and many that have gone, were within the industry, but had independent thought.........!
It is clear that any pushing for better service has to come from outside the corridors and most is coming from people who love the game!

If the Guy who owned the hypothetical joint next door argued that the restaurant management where you dined was out of line would that make it any less true or would that fall into the biased opinion category??

Sorry Titch but I just cannot align your comparison at all!-I see it as comparing apples with pears but maybe I'm missing something!

The fact that he owns the "joint next door" should not detract from his opinion as is the case with Blondie's opinion irrespective of where he works ...

Re: Tab & Tellytrack
10 years 4 months agomy telebet account has been dormant for years and I used to spend plenty with them..i have mentioned this on several occasions but have never received one line of communication from the powers that be to find out why....this whole open bet issue has been hammered out on many threads on here and maybe it is time we put it behind us...some of the anti open bet stances taken on here are absolutely laughable in fact iv never laughed so much in my life ...they actually are extremely arrogant to say the least..enough on that topicLSU wrote: Not as many dormant accounts as we would like to believe, once it's in your blood it's a hard habit to kick,
