Titch, lets be honest ........you justify the actions of "P" regardless!
(interesting that your response would tend to support the info I have that incentives are in place,as a strategy, to support tote betting (and trash the open bet)!
(I said Sealegs was at work??????...........none so blind as those that will not see!)
My only point today was "why not let the customer know"...............sorry that is so unreasonable!

Rob I have been opposed to the Open Bet for as far back as I can remember and have always aired my views openly about this and I am pro tote becoz I am pro racing and no matter how many ways you try and ridicule the facts they still remain ..no tote no racing..
Those who choose to support the Open Bet no matter what effect it will have on racing fall into the category of gamblers not racing people so the argument that fixed odds lets me know what im getting etc etc is a load of self gratifying BS imo...
Instead of talking in riddles why not share your "info" regarding "incentives that are in place" as you put it, if there is in fact anything to share...

Titch ,I happen to agree with you (and always have ) .......but where we differ is that the tote seem to think they are entitled to the support regardless of how bad the service is and contemptuous their treatment of the customer.
Should the open bet be blamed on an establishment who make it very difficult to support or the public and bookmakers who have obviously built a far more mutually beneficial relationship?
The question I have is why racing seems to think it is subject to different rules to other industries?
(let me remind you of my example the other day when not been allowed to view streaming from the tote I support.......your response was that I was being unreasonable because there were alternatives! Lets compare that with a restaurant who wants my custom but tells me I have to use the toilets in the joint next door.
(I'm going to bet you would object to the one,.... and yet you support the other.)
That just makes no sense to me.
(sorry and just to add the other snippet ...........any punter in a centre, where bookmakers and tote are represented separately, during an outage, can take an open bet and not a tote bet.........is that not just crazy?)

There is no doubt that the customer service issue needs to be addressed and improved but this is not only a Tote/Operators issue, I have had the most disgusting service from bookmakers as well, in fact I have recently closed my account with a bookmaker that up until recently were leaders in that field but sadly as they have grown and expanded their business so their priorities have changed and they have allowed their greatest selling point to deteriorate to such an extent that it became an unpleasant experience betting with them, what gets my goat is whenever the Operators do something positive it is at best ignored completely and in most instances ridiculed, as was the case with the introduction of the French betting into our totes and giving us a chance to bet into R1M pools, something that took a lot of behind the scene negotiations but got absolutely zero recognition...

I still think phumelela are missing an opportunity of capturing customers back from bookies that offer the open bet with some sort of loyalty programme. Surely they should be campaigning and targeting dormant tabonline accounts or something along these lines.
I just feel they are NOT willing to spend money on such campaigns in order to achieve results?

I would suspect the totes have posters up advertising this as well.
