They already fined Andries Steyn R1000 for brining the wrong horse to the races. Isn't that called a precedent !!

Kenzia should be ashamed of himself or herself, whichever the case may be, for writing this totally misleading subject line.
This crap is what has damned the Internet and usually is employed by those seeking hits.

Nonsense. In this or any multi-million rand business you don't employ people to make mistakes.Trainer is first and foremost to he held accountable .

The racing industry may be a multi-million rand industry but people working directly with horses locally have very little qualifications other than exprience.....
firstly how is a trainer accountable for receiving horses from a farm that have been incorrectly labled....
......then have you worked with grooms....did you see the interview of the groom of the Summer Cup winner....he may be one of the better ones getting a top horse to mind and may be good at his job yet he cannot string 2 words in English.....so there can be communication problems when relaying 15 or 16 on a normal race day....trainers are generally very hands on..... yet through absence or deligation to others with lesser understanding or communication problems..... things can go wrong.....no diffent from ordering a Castle Lite and getting a Castle Lager....:

yes apparently the two chestnuts had been mixed up earlier, before arriving at the training stables. Question - how is it that the industry relies on hand-drawn markings for identification (other than chip - which if you don't have a scanner, how do you check?). How about taking digital photographs of the horse to include in the passport then? And what about horses that have the usual racehorse colouring of bay i.e. no white markings etc.? (they all look the same to me frankly, brown and hairy, with hooves.)

Exactly and they cannot rely on the passport alone.....they have to be scanned to verify identity and expell the chance of human error....(tu)

So when is the microchip inserted(at what age)? Surely with all his lolly Mr Adams and other big owners can buy a scanner(I doubt it could be that expensive) to use at stables?
