Hi

I think Flash Harry often raises some pertinent points but his English gets attacked. Fark I would never even attempt to post on a Greek Website. I read FH's posts and understand what he is trying to put across, keep posting Flash.

I agree FH certainly knows what he is talking about and I for one enjoy his posts
It does sometime come across a bit funny, but, so what
As long as we understand...:D(tu)

STATEMENT

These are the facts re -Chris Taylor.

Gold Circle gave Chris a podium which is not what they normally do for something not connected to racing at the Gold Cup. The very same day we received a cheque from Mike De Kock. Chris was mentioned in the Gold Cup race card for that day. He cancelled at the last minute. If it had been done then it would not have come to this.

We then told Chris we could do the cheque hand over at our next charity race day which he agreed to.

A few weeks later Chris asked why we had not thanked him yet and I explained that we were waiting for the cheque hand over so as not to steal his thunder and by doing this on Tellytrack which he agreed to.

Then the delays from weather three times.

All was arranged for the handover at our race meeting on Sunday, 2 December 2012. Chris again pulled out due to no mention in the race card. The Chairman’s letter is for our race day sponsors.
We have tried everything to accommodate Chris and are truly grateful for any donation we receive and if you look at all our thank you’s on our Facebook and website it is evident.

Why would we choose to not thank Chris if it was not agreed by him to delay this until the hand over of the cheque.

Thanks

Why do charitable work thrn scream for recognition? Charity is never about the giver

I don't think anyone is screaming for recognition. a Thank You maybe. Further, in ' my opinion,' charity is about the giver !! Without the giver there is no charity, none will survive.

As with every dispute, there are 3 sides to every story
Here are some more facts

"Gold Circle gave Chris a podium which is not what they normally do for something not connected to racing at the Gold Cup. The very same day we received a cheque from Mike De Kock. Chris was mentioned in the Gold Cup race card for that day. He cancelled at the last minute. If it had been done then it would not have come to this."

How is a jockey running for horses NOT connected to racing??? I ran the 1st 60kms in racing silks, surely an advert for GC as well?
I don't believe I was mentioned in the Gold Cup Racecard and I definitely wasn't mentioned in the Racing Express.
I did not cancel at the last minute. I cancelled by the Thursday before the Gold Cup as My 2 rides for the day were eliminated and I was told that I would have to provide for my own table reservation at the meeting. This was due to GC looking after their sponsors on the day. Does anybody know what it costs for a reservation 2days before Gold Cup?

"A few weeks later Chris asked why we had not thanked him yet and I explained that we were waiting for the cheque hand over so as not to steal his thunder and by doing this on Tellytrack which he agreed to."

Only a handover done on-course was ever mentioned. Tellytrack were only involved with airing the slide that was organised by myself and Ms.Simpkins at GC. It contained the info of run and bank details. Shaheen Shaw and Darryl Maree gave my effort a plug to raise funds every chance they got.

"All was arranged for the handover at our race meeting on Sunday, 2 December 2012. Chris again pulled out due to no mention in the race card. The Chairman’s letter is for our race day sponsors."
Correct, but surely the hand-over of a cheque almost half the size of Gold Ciclre, a multi-million company, should be mentioned. Werent myself and my supporters sponsoring the CHCU?
Isn't it polite to introduce all parties supporting a cause on the day?

"We have tried everything to accommodate Chris and are truly grateful for any donation we receive and if you look at all our thank you’s on our Facebook and website it is evident."
I have searched for both of my names on the CHCU website... No posts are found!
There were some pics of the run posted on FB but nothing mentioned after the final amount was declared and deposited into the CHCU account.
A pic of the cheque on Sunday has made its way onto FB, as above, even though after our phone conversation, Gill had confirmed by SMS that the cheque would not be presented...

"Why would we choose to not thank Chris if it was not agreed by him to delay this until the hand over of the cheque."
It was not agreed, I was TOLD!

@Pirates, the branding on my breeches was provided by CHCU, cost of about R150 for 2pairs. An interview for a paper was organised at the farm to get the ball rolling. All kit, qualifying race entries, bank charges and license fees were covered by the donations of my supporters.

@soodum, it's not about recognition, it's about thanks and politeness.
Awareness and funds were raised using all forms of media, thanks can also given via the same forms.
Jocks have always been labeled as stingy, yet when we do some good, we mustn't be thanked, I DON'T THINK SO!

Just in case some posters were at the track today, they would have seen that I wore my CHCU breeches for the 1st 2 races.
I DO support the work of CHCU but I wont do any fund raising again...

From what I have read here, the sms's i have recieved and from calls about this thread, it has done no one involved any good. The CHCU has come out looking ungreatful and Chris has come out looking like he was attention seeking and when he did not get it he threw his toys out the cot. Neither has come out smelling of roses. A pity as they do great work under trying circumstances and the balance of the money Chris recieved in sponsorship and donations will definitely help them.
