Chips i get more satisfaction from seeing the people i have helped than any public acknowledgment.

Dont expect people to have common sense just because they have been put a position of leadership.

You will be supported in your future charity drives as long as the motive is to help right people or cause.

Rubbish .... there is NO excuse for bad manners ! There are so many charity's needing help that when one does receive any assistance one should acknowledge the gesture especially as it costs nothing and may well encourage repeat help.

For sure...
But then don't thank anybody else publicly.

"come racing to hand-over a cheque but we won't let anybody know that you doing it"
I used media and publicity to raise the funds, afford me the same courtesy when accepting them.

Last year I supported the EC Unit for the Algoa auction on friday night. by the following Wednesday I had an e-mail thanking me and also received a typed letter via post, again thanking me.

This was my 1st attempt at a serious fundraiser, IMAGINE what I could do with the right people around me.
Don't plead poverty and then not give thanks for what you receive...

I have it on good authority that previous directors have resigned over dispute of donations received by CHCU

This is a disgrace, no matter how you slice it.

Doesn't cost a thing to simply write a letter and thank a man

Guys, I was at the function today and was asked to please write on here as I was told that there are 2 sides to every story. Chris was going to be publicly thanked on Tellytrack when the cheque was handed over but Chris pulled out of the presentation. The story I was given for Chris being there I would rather confirm before posting it as it sounds rather absurd. The website was going to be updated with the photo's and an article on the run etc. As Sylvester and Pirates wrote the majority of the people there had donated plenty of time and money(millions in 1 case to buy the farm) and none wanted any acknowledgement. Just happy to help a worthy cause. Gold Circle says that they were prepared to have the presentation between races but were not sure why anything else was expected of them. This was an arrangement between Chris and CHCU. I think that was nearly everything I was told. The rest I must confirm. I will chat to them again tomorrow and see if I missed anything. They do great work there with a dedicated team and as of right now they have 29 horses homed there. They need all funding they can get and if they are wrong I will tell them but if they are right then people must keep quiet as it is doing damage and not going to help their worthy cause.

@Craig, were you and Carey not immediately thanked in all media for your recent contribution to CHCU???

it has nothing to do with Gold Circle...
They made this quite clear from the start. Help by PRO Ms.Simpkins was given where possible.

Please read the front of the Express & the letter written by Gill, CHAIRPERSON of CHCU. Each race sponsor details is listed and no mention is made of hand over/presentation. Apart from the people on-course, how many other people would see the presentation?
What about the people that donated towards my run that live in the other provinces and even overseas, they were all part of the effort!

I'm sure there are others out there that would raise R20,000 and maybe R2million, ALL should be thanked equally!

As stated before, I held back 2 items from the PE auction for todays meeting, some would consider collectors items, but nobody would know that I was even doing a handover and therefore no idea that these items were up for auction.

Everybody in life has to work for what they get, CHCU DO GREAT WORK FOR HORSES, but should also consider where their next donations are coming from. The big money doesn't always last.

If ANYBODY else has something to add, please don't send Craig to be the middleman and part of a broken telephone.

I have already been contacted by other trainers, owners, media and an overseas presenter all with the same viewpoint...

NOW I WILL run next years race for the East Cape Unit!

Craig is a person that I have spoken to on many issues and we agree and disagree on many more.
Also passionate about the game that is our life.

CHCU were happy to take the money raised via electronic media, they can also handle the publicity it can bring.

This thread is an APOLOGY to Gold Circle and all others that contributed...
