Sure RC... but the same still applies...someone bred them, raised them fed them then dumped them.... the owners should be hunted and penalised to the full extent of the law !! ... We should raise LOTS OF MONEY to pay BOUNTY HUNTERS a fee for every successful incarceration of a neglectful owner :X :X

10000000000000% Mag,i case in point a horse called Refresh, bought by a "newby" owner who renamed it after his company had 3 trainers,1 run and then got dumped by the owner ,fortunately the CHCU stepped in and saved the boy, I believe he is now with Craig waiting to be re homed, big up to Craig, Carey A and CHCU for giving this story a happy ending...

Thank you Titch. You would not recognise him from the poor horse that came in. Told them he is ready to be homed and can send the next one in when they find another bad one.

Well done again Chippy, the lengths you went to support a worthy cause, the blood , sweat toil and tears, surely but surely here was an excellent oppurtunity for the operators to proclaim to the world out there that one lonesome jockey who is not even in the top 20 of the log, took it upon himself to do something for a deserving cause.
When if ever will any others follow suit, or is Chippy a hard act to follow?:S

All the Horse Care Units look after any equines in their areas. This includes donkeys, mules, riding horses and other non thoroughbred horses.
In the EC Megan , Stanley and their staff travel to the Transkei as well as all the way down the Garden Route inoculating and educating people on equine care.
An absolutely thankless job....
However the law here is behind them 100% and if any equine is found in an abused state they follow right through to court if necessary....but it should, in an ideal world never get to that state. Microchips go a long way in helping identify thoroughbreds.

@Titch
The cheque looks good and the horse looks even better. Well done Craig
I have always said that the Unit do FANTASTIC work with the horses and I don't regret running Comrades.
It gave me a sense of appreciation of how a tiring horse feels a furlong from home!
I will just be supporting a diffent Unit next time around
Some people agree with my decision, other don't, that is up to them
But I have to stand up for what I believe in and the more we do this in Racing and in life, overall the better off we will all be
The CHCU Unit's 1st priority is the Horse

Chippy those hard miles you put in both in training and the race itself went a long way towards giving the Refresh story a happy ending..(tu)(tu)
