Interesting to note that on the 11/05/2012 at Greyville, Taipan is booked to run the 2nd Race at 1800M carrying 60KG. As i followed on another thread, Dean, was smart enough to enter the horse for the Betting World 1900 and not the Daily News 2000, reason being if Taipan beat Jackson, the handicappers will do justice on Taipan weight for the entry in the Durban July.
Surely Dean will scratch Taipan for the 11/05/2012, keep him ready for the Betting World 1900, and then have his 3rd run after a rest at the Vodacom July, being Cherry Ripe???
Also read in another thread, that Dean skipped the Summer Cape Town Season, with Taipan, keeping him savoured for the Winter season.
Karl saddled up a winner Flaming Rock some years ago.....then it was Gerrit Schlecter on Eye of the Tiger, which aroused alot of issues, and even lawyers got involved.
I have like R 38000.00 of bets going into Taipan for the July, with doubles and trebles......and if he comes home lonely, it will not be a surprise

I am also following, English Garden, Pomodoro, Ihla Bella, Chesalon and Golden Chateu for the July.....but all guns are blazing for Taipan.....(tu)

English Garden looks well treated on Friday,i would say this is more of a prep race for Taipan before the 1900

Taipan has a great chance but imo it`s more important that he wins the BW1900

Have to agree with Hibs, Taipan will not get into the July without winning a minor feature like the 1900 or Cup Trial over 1800 or run a place in the Daily News. I would have thought the way Dean has looked after his MR it would be a mistake to win the Progress Plate as he could incur up to a 6 point penalty and when you look at how badly he is out at the weights with English Garden and Whitelinefever he will most likely pick up the 6 point penalty. Taipan would then carry 3kg's more in the 1900 than would now. A progress plate win will not get him into the July.

Because of all the hype on the site around Taipan, I included him in my Charity Surf selections rather 'blindly' - hindsight is of course 20/20 vision, but looking at it now, I should rather have gone for Tales of Bravery as I doubt very much if Taipan will make the July field - let's hope I'm wrong

Frodo there is 9 points available for the Campanajo 2200 (Consolation) available for first on July Day, if he doesnt make the final field.
