The horse is shown at 49,5 at present but at acceptances the minimum weight is 52. I would not give up on Taipan just yet, although he didn't run well it was his second run after a rest and the first half of the race was an absolute crawl turning it into a sprint which suited the 1400 to 1600 meter horses. He also probably ran within a couple of points off his MR. After the 1900 at hopefully a good we should have a better idea of where he is. (tu)

Imho, the race tonight told us exactly nothing - I was sceptical about Taipan before the race, and I remain sceptical, but to be fair the pace of the race did not do him any favours imo - to write him off on this run, would be as foolish to rate him as a champion when running 2nd last time - jury still out

Not sure he will even get a run in the 1900 on that run,are the final entries done on draw or ratings?

Taipan was very unsettled in that race, fighting with the bit and shaking his head about, when they turned he didnt look a likely winner at all and didnt even bother running on imo
So yeah put a line through it.

I think this thread has had too many postings, the horse really has done nothing...

You had to be impressed with the way English Garden won also, even though he was chucked in at the weights...
Very easy win and was value for another Length or two
