According to the merit rating 112 of Hoedspruit, there 23 horses higher than him and 3 other horses with the same rating of 112. Add in Bless The Stars to definitely get a run if they accept so he goes one lower. The Woolavington winner will definitely get a run and therefore he effectively at 29 because the other horses with the rating of 112 are 3yo and have more scope of improvement. I doubt the Gold Challenge winner will be a horse with a lower rating of 112 or the Daily News 2000 but Rockpool, Future Pearl and maybe King Regent can run a blinder there. The Greyville 1900 and the Cup Trial will get preferential treatment. With Quasiforsure and Pacaya real contenders for those races, they can sneak in.

Hoedspruit needs to win big in his next race to get a run.

I think Hoedspruit will get in - few of the others (Safe Passage, Puerto Manzano, Dave the King, Second Base, the list goes on ....) may fall by the wayside imo; Fourie is riding him in the Legal Eagle next week - will of course depends on how he goes there

Fourie thinks Without Question is the real deal. Check the interview if you never have. From the 3.40 minute mark.

That was a win full of merit .Big Runner July ,This looks Nick Johnsson's July .He can hit the trifecta !

Have to respect Fourie's view - all I'm saying that IF he gets in, Hoedspruit should never be 45/1 - if he makes the final field, he will be much shorter
