Pacaya came from behind Rascallion and still won. I would imagine that both of them needed a run.

If Pacaya is drawn between 4 to 8 for the July, then he will be only be 5-6 lengths of the lead as they turning for home. Carrying 53kg, with a more than average turn of foot, and he didnt seem to be stoppping at the line today as he got to the lead and just stayed there and given that non of the older horses are not in great form, I think he only has the 3yr Olds to be beat, but he may very well be carrying less weight than him and I'm not sure if a 3-4kg pull in the weights is good enough for them to beat him.

In my opinion, Fourie will wait for the Daily news to be run to make his choice. And if he can't at that point its all about the draws. But it will be Fourie on Without Question or Pacaya for the July in my mind.

11-1 at antepost still looks very attractive

This was one of the weakest renewals of this gr2 1900- apart from Rascallion this was at best Listed race class.
Despite winning, I see no reason why Pacaya should get into the July- he ran 106 here, and the runner- up 101, assuming that Rascallion ran to his 122 and is used as the line horse. Cape Eagle ran 4th and perhaps ran 100.

There are 13 horses rated 120 and above that have accepted so far for the July, and another 6 -8 good 3yos that should get in ahead of the likes of Pacaya. His new odds of 10/1 are crazy short given that I doubt that he will get a run. He is a horse that still has scope for improvement, and may be looking for further, but despite the 'preferential" status of the WSB1900, he will be very lucky to get in unless he runs again and shows that he is better than he's shown so far.

Yes I agree - I have Pacaya running to 105 - so would need another good run somewhere (Cup Trial ?) to cement his place.

I see that Hoedspruit has almost halved in odds - a more realistic price imo
