Morning guys. Trust you all are well. Just a pointer for those wanting to back Rainbow Bridge for the July. Many a times we had seen senior jockeys win this premier race. I have noticed that Luke Ferraris aged 19 has been booked on Rainbow Bridge for the July.
I might be too young for this game or can anybody name other 19yo jocks that was victorious in the July.
No disrespect to this young guy but if he does win then this is a mugs game!
All the best Luke for Hong Kong✌

So there won't be many more clues forthcoming - apart from the Final Supps on Tuesday, the weights (which the Handicapper may still adjust after the Gold Challenge and the Cup Trial yesterday - although I doubt it will have much influence) and then the riding arrangements to be finalised next week. The one curve ball that could throw a spanner into the works would be if the connections decide to give Catch Twenty-Two a chance after his excellent 2nd yesterday
What do we know as it stands - as PeterD alluded to in another thread, on the face of it, the 3 3yr olds Linebacker, Kommetdieding and Rascallion seem very much alive, taking into account the run of Seeking the Stars in the Challenge. If one does accept that War of Athena won't run , the other obvious one for the first 4 is Got the Greenlight. And based on the form shown to date, I also highly doubt that Rainbow Bridge can give them 7 kgs and a beating. Another interesting rumor that is surfacing, is that Gav Lerena may be riding Kommetdieding - and he has been riding at 55.5 at the Vaal this past week - still some way to go to get to 53 kgs - and I doubt they would want him to ride at much more that 0,5 kgs overweight
However ....... I think the last 200m will be the telling factor - none of the 3 yr olds (bar WoA who may not take her place) have actually gone the trip; for me the most likely one that may prefer the extra 200m (based on the Daily News) is Rascallion - but that's not a sure fact either.
So who definitely stays - and I see that Crown Towers is now back among the noms - which probably means that he could be sacrificed as the pace setter
, so chances are that the pace will be on; of the fancied runners I can find only Belgarion and Do It Again, and looking at the longer shots, Sovereign Spirit, Tristful (July Campanajo last year) and maybe Matterhorn. Of these I have previously labelled Sovereign Spirit as value at the odds, and although I would have preferred him to run a length or so closer yesterday, there still should not be much between him and Rainbow Bridge at the weights (SS will get 5 kgs from RB) - the problem is that I think RB will struggle to give that much weight away to the 3 yr olds and Got the Greenlight and also there is that slight doubt about RB getting that last 200m (even taking into account that he was too close to a fast pace last year) - also there is a huge swing at the weights between SS and Tristful (again based on the Campanajo last year) - so best roughie for the top 6 could now be Tristful
So taking all of the above into account, I still think GtG is a worthy favorite, but Do It Again and perhaps Belgarion will challenge him all the way over the last 200; Rascallion of the 3 yr olds may be the best suited to the trip and at current odds definitely much better value than Linebacker; Tristful and Sovereign Spirit to finish in the top 6
That's my take anyway

Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Very nice interview with Gav - let's face it, these guys from Clocking the Gallop put up some great discussions - and interesting about Kommetdieding - never thought Gav would be riding at 53

If memory serves me well i think Garth was on some sort of BROWN RICE diet..... perhaps someone else can confirm.....Garth needs to pass this on to Gav.

stewed fruit and brown rice - probably spent more time sitting on the loo than riding work during that weight shed
