For me still closely matched between about 10 or so runners - yes some have deserted, but I think still very competitive - Got the Greenlight imo should be favorite

Attie deserves to be in this field for the ziets yard there are many no hopes in this line up but he may well finish in the money. Don't think it can win but a place for sure

How and why would Atyaab get a run in the July?

This is the only horse I can recall that won a group 1 (Cape Derby) and wasn’t deemed good enough to be entered into the July.

I would argue that Attie is at least as deserving as Matter Horn and Tristful, but the KZN boys look after their own

The same point applies to several including those, this race is becoming a farce. Besides the injuries its disappointing that so many including the likes of Malmoos are skipping.

Ja sure half the field are there for the hope but what with Rainbow Bridge, Linebacker, War Of Athena, Kommetdieding and the lurker She’s A Taker I think for now the race is still a cracker. I hope there won’t be any setbacks to the above five.
(I’m not sure how winning a Gr1 two years ago qualifies for anything. Where do we draw the line - three years, four, five, lifetime? But, on an emotional level, I wld still really like Atyaab to run).

Look at She's a Keeper rated 96 her yard feels she can be competitive in the July.

Look at the Bass yard - they know how to win Grade 1's.

They have not entered Chat Ching (114) and Marina (106).

The mind boggles how attie is only 20th on the log but it is what it is and one would always wonder how a horse that ran 2nd in a 2400m Gr3 and won a 2800m Gr2 less than 5 months ago and subsequently won again over 2000m and ran twice 2nd and once unplaced should make way for 2 horses that only once in the last year ran in the first 3 places.... they won and ran 2nd that day in only listed 1600m race and only one horse in that race ran a place out of 12 attempts after that race....im struggling to see the logic but lets hope we still manage to have a crack in the race every person in racing dream about....

Iam saying it’s interesting how different stables view horses / races.

She’s a Keeper is rated 96 as a 4 year old but probably ran to maybe a 106 in her last race.

The Bass horses which are just as good hasn’t been entered because their takes yard takes a different view on the race.

Well the rumor may not have reached the bookies yet - still trading at around 8/1 as far as I can see - should one take the gamble and have another few rand on one's fancy - as many will shorten if WoA is taken out

If they do scratch Athena the connections will rue their decisions in years to come.
