Yes maybe so, but do you think that/those person/s will take the wrap for this crap.....no they are going to shaft the poor trainer.....the sums dont add up in the Cape as far as policing and checking of specimens.....that filly Tuesday's Child furore is still in my mind which won in the Cape and no testosterone found.....maybe the testes were inactive but now I doubt it.....if the NHRA are resposible for employing people that are not carrying out their duties and may be covering up issues that may be to contentiuos or above their pay grade they must launch an official investigation or be audited by an inderpedant body.....as their(the NHRA) reputation is beyond salvaging.....::o

....no no no....this is a private joke for Mr Sandals.....:S

.....and I am not blaming provincialism for the errors....but it seems like they have a weak link in the system ....be it that they may have the wrong people in position. Remember the watch word key to the NHRA is integrity.....but if you have people that lack integrity then it is a meaningless slogan.....:S....The NHRA are under emence scrutiny of late and this matter has blown their integrity to pieces....::o

Magic Feet saga continues
Last updated on: November 7th, 2013

Gold Circle Publishing’s Michael Clower wrote on the front page of the Cape Times today about the Magic Feet debacle at Kenilworth yesterday.

Clower’s article states that Magic Feet served up a 66-1 shock when making a winning debut in the first race at Kenilworth yesterday but that was nothing compared with the consternation the newcomer caused when it was found that she was a different horse altogether.

The mistake was discovered when she was taken away for a routine dope test and the chip in her neck was electronically scanned. This showed her to be another chestnut three-year-old from the same stable, that of Darryl Hodgson, but an unraced filly named Ignition Lady.

Amazingly the error was not discovered by the horse identifier whose job it is to scan all horses before they go into the parade ring to ensure that their chips match the numbers in their passports. The chips were also scanned, and checked with the passports, by an official some weeks ago when the two fillies were taken through the pens to get their starting stall certificates. Again the error was not discovered and apparently the original mix-up occurred when the pair were brought from their stud in the same float on the same day.

Hodgson said: “They arrived at my stables with stickers on them giving their names. From that moment on we assumed Magic Feet to be the filly who had that name on her sticker, and the same with Ignition Lady.”

Magic Feet now faces disqualification and, unless something unexpected crops up, the race will be awarded to 9-10 favourite Abyssinia who was beaten less than half a length into second. Senior stipendiary steward Ernie Rodrigues said: “I have lodged an objection to the winner and this will be heard in the morning. In the meantime the horse identifier has been suspended and will face a disciplinary hearing.”
UPDATE: Magic Feet, Wednesday’s “wrong horse” 66-1 Kenilworth winner, was disqualified today and the race awarded to runner-up Abyssinia but the NHA’s inquiries into how nobody spotted the blunder are continuing.

At last Cape Racing hits the front pages, for all the wrong reasons ...

This has eclipsed the sales race 10 fold

No....these chip scanners are suposed to be the property of the NHRA.....like I said in a previous thread.....horses arrive from sales or farms with passports and fairly new since there have been mix ups....some put stickers on horses.....the general idea is not to arm every joe with a scanner....may give some odd bod an idea to tamper with the chip.....::o

Are you refering to a brand marking that they do on horses from Aus and NZ.....they do not brand mark horses here.....the markings referred to in a passport would be a blaze, a white sock etc and indicated on a diagram......the diagram is small as passport about the size of a small race card....very easy to have 2 bays with a small blaze and a white sock off fore....or Magic Feet a Chestnut filly with long white blaze and 2 white socks in front only.....::o

but surely as a trainer with your biggest client sending you babies from the farm you should make darn sure you know which horse is which when they arrive if they look similar- Just from a breeding point of view you should be able to look up the breeding to get an idea what type of blood you have there. Hodgson is just as responsible
