good article in the sporting post abt the riding incident.honest observations written as they saw it,like the majority of racing folk except Tich.Once again Tich pls ask your good friend to respond to sporting post to clear his name.andrew if u are reading this my son.clear your name either on telly track like how an objection is done and i think u will be be respected as a man and for your honesty.if u dont u gotta live with it.one thing i can say.tich pls tell andrew he will be watched like hes royalty from this day forth.if he does not ride to the line, gives horses easy rides and thinks he can do wat he wants and whern he wants to be aware.the country is watching u and u will lose your licence cause theres only so much one can take and cape town stipes......u guys need to be aware that u guys are being watched.u guys can only sit back for so long.the country is watching u.u guys need to be fair and transparent and take your jobs more serious.spec savers are there if u need that added help.

Having grown up in CT, spending my early teens bunking school on a Wednesday to go racing, I am saddened that Cape racing has lost some of it's allure. Sure, those were the days of Terence Millard and his champions and my FAV jockey ever, Johannes ' Rooies' Fourie - That CT has lost it's attraction is evident by the pools, often even finishing behind PE. This kind of topic doesn't improve the situation of punters turning their backs on Cape Racing - Someone should do a survey and ask the guys in the totes, why they no longer enjoy playing the venue. I think we may be amazed by the reasoning.

Every punter we lose, we sweating to find a replacement and that's the sad state of the nation. I can't remember meeting a newbie player in over a decade.

What is unusual here is that AF has started this thread (quite eloquently one might say).had numerous responses and unfortunately, since then, we've only heard from his agent. Makes one think.
Cmon manne write some more to us...you do it so well. Titch is coming under pressure defending you. Help your agent out!
One doesn't need to be a jockey, once you has seen the TV replay, to determine that AF riding tactics left much to be desired. Looking around at the business end of a race is absolutely unacceptable. This kind of riding behavior should be sanctioned. Why it isn't is a mystery to me...or did AF receive some sort of penalty for the offence in question?...or is it acceprable in SA racing to look around obviously impairing your horses ability to win/place?

Personally i do not think anything untoward happened here except that it was a poorly judged ride from Andrew. If you find youself hitting the front 450m to go which is still a long way from home, this is not the time to be posing on your mount, this would be your opportunity to try and stal a few lengths on your rivals and put your head down and go hell for leather and try to hang on to win.Yes your horse will be running on empty going through the 200m pole, but it is the horse running on empty that needs those reminders across his rump to try an extract that last gasp effort out of the horse.A tired horse needs much more encouragement from the saddle especially if its still in front 100m to go.This old saying flogging a dead horse is not applicable in this case

We should not be surprised about what happened Saterday...the punters lost out again...unless the authorities act firmly we will be talking about this again in a few months..there were so many that supported AF last time...saying the authorities were out to get and so on...this has got to stop...

how can anyone feel that fortune has been unfairly treated...dam how many chances must this guy be given...rules are rules
punishment is meant to teach someone a lesson and hopefully they wont do it again...it obviously has not worked with fortune...surely a harsher penalty was in order
the shame about this episode is that it will come up again in a few months...and there will be those missing the point and defending him again

here we go again...fortune up for another suspension for the same offence...but iam sure there will be those that defend him for being unfairly treated...hope he is found not guilty...but if he is found guilty they must throw the book at him...

Oh sorry about that Titch...my bad...I genuinely thought you were his agent! You must a good friend to him because you have defended him in this forum. Good for you.
I'm not sure which facts exactly you refer to. I still hold the view, with respect, that riders should look straight ahead and ride their horses to the line. Looking around must surely affect the overall balance of horse and rider....or no?
I'm no jockey (@ 140kgs odd and 1m 99 tall I pity the horse that has to gallop with me aboard -therefore I don't ride at all (also no indicators and suspect brakes)) but I would have thought that had he elected not to look around when he did and without rehashing other allegations that have been raised in this thread - in all probability he wins...no?
Somehow controversy still follows AF like a shadow. It's a pity really...because he is a gifted rider.
