With the new viewing set up on Ch 240 can we reasonably assume they will show Cheltenham?

Re: Cheltenham 2022 new thread.
2 years 1 month agoThe magnificent seven that will make or break the festival for punters and bookies.
EDWARDSTONE
HONEYSUCKLE
GALOPIN DES CHAMPS
SHISHKIN
FACILE VEGA
BOB OLINGER
ALLAHO
It's been a long time since I did manual settling in a bookies (over 50 years) and took written bets over the counter but with 7 horses ?
One ATC
21 x doubles
35 x trebles
35 x foursomes
21 x five timers
7 x six timers
Should give you at R10 a line total R1200
Ask your bookie and don't be shy with the R10 stake 😉
Still await confirmation who is running in certain races but all look on track
Gold Cup between A Plus Tard and Gavin at this stage
Edwardstone 5/2
Honeysuckle 7/10
Shishkin 9/10
Allaho 7/10
Tiger Roll, champ, Paisley Park etc all runners for a great festive probably rain and heavy going
Tuesday 15th and they are OFF

Who remembers Sprinter Sacre?
Not the Gold Cup itself but theQueen Mother Champion Chase at Chelts, twice. The pace of that jumper was faster than what you see on the flat today. Sprinter Sacre did it for me.

I used to work as a floating settler for Charkie Malizia on Saturdays and i remember
a Grand National in the late 60's at his Shirley office in Southampton.
We had a golden rule to just look at all the 'running on bets' and advise Head Office of any liabilities.
This particular day we had cardboard boxes lying all over the floor full, full up with bits of paper.
The 3 girls at the counter could not take the bets quick enough.
We worked until midnight to settle all the bets.
It is the only occasion when I feared if there was a successful running bet we ere "history'.
Amazingly it never happened.

OK 5 days to go ......see notes! and updates below, as we still need some confirmation which horses will run in certain races, so beware on “ante post” markets.
Tuesday:
Supreme novice:
Sir Gerhard probably won't run here
Arkle :
Edwardstone should go close
Ultima:
Open
Champion Hurdle:
Honeysuckle all the way a must in ATCs
Mares Hurdle:
Open
Boodles:
Open
National Hunt chase:
Open
Wednesday:
Ballymore:
Sir Gerhard should run here and go close.
Browns:
Galopin and Bob probably won't run and Bravesmansgame should run well.
Coral :
Open
Champion Chase :
Should be a cracker but Shishkin hard to beat.
Cross country:
The popular National hero Tiger Roll should go close
Grand chase :
Open
Bumper:
Facile Vega and American Mike should fight it out
Thursday
Turners :
Galopin and Bob to fight it out.
Pertemps:
Open
Ryanair:
where Energumene will go for Champion chase and A Plus Tard the Cup
So Allaho a must for your ATCs
Stayers :
A great open race, more to follow
Paddy Power:
Open
Mares Novice :
Open
Kim Muir:
Open
Friday:
Triumph:
Another good contest Vauban likely winner but tough
McCoy:
Open
Albert :
Open
CUP:
A Plus Tard and Gavin to fight it out.
St James :
Open
Mares Chase
Open
Martin Pipe :
Open
We can only hope for good quality coverage and “fixed odds” scrolling betting on what should be a superb festival run in reasonable weather conditions
Good Punting
