What we learnt today ....
R1: Shikoku beaten but not disgraced; Arden Park amazing improvement and should have a nice career going forward especially being by Greys Inn out of a staying dam - should improve further over more ground
R2: Typical Maiden where Tattenham Hill won convincingly but not the strongest field imo - juvenile Climate Control good run from a bad draw and should prove hard to beat against his peers over this sort of trip next time out; Vengeance Forever could be cherry ripe next time out
R3: Good tactical ride on Indlamu, but many of these are more or less in their place - depending on the competition in a handicap any of them can feature next time
R4: True to Life back to her best and should pay to follow in her 2 final starts before being retired to stud; Bohica may have just needed it and sure to improve next time
R5: Very good runs by both the winner and the runner-up who are on the up; Master Archie especially very impressive giving a strong field weight and a beating; Mufasa obviously not his run but there may be something not quite right with him
R6: Al Muhtana very disappointing and would be interesting to find out what went wrong; Kommetdieding imo better over more ground and will be cherry ripe next time; good win by MK's Pride who seems to have learnt to settle and should prove very competitive at WFA over 1400-1600; Puerto Manzano improved and seems best when held up for a run; Flying Carpet better over more ground, but imo will struggle against the best at WFA
R7: Rain In Holland just a class above these, but imo has a very high rating - let's see; excellent effort by Light of the Moon - let's see what the handicapper does
R8: Good runs by both Aragosta and Zeus who showed that staying is there game; also a good effort by London Roads and again let's see what the handicapper does; Litigation I think not quite in the top league, but probably prefers less ground; I think Red Saxon may be worth another chance as he pulled hard in the early stages
R9: Nebraas has shown again that he is one of the best stayers in the country; should win more especially at set weights; strange to have seen Black Thorn up there after the trainer suggested that he is better coming from off them - both are relatively lightly raced and should make their presence felt in staying races to come
R10: If this race is run 10 times in the future, there could be 10 different winners; amazing that Nordic Rebel paid more than R20 win on the Tote after having won 2 of his latest 4 starts (with Lerena partnering him to many of his victories in the past) - good training feat to keep an 8-year old in that kind of form

I think that Kommetdieding has not yet fully adjusted to the altitude. Another few weeks will make a big difference.

From a ratings point of view, it looks to me like MKs Pride and Astrix ran to their ratings of 122 and 112. The big improver Puerto Manzano which then ran 120.
Kommetdieding ran way below best at around 116.
If the official handicapper wants to get overexcited, he could use Flying Carpet as the line horse and push the above up by another 4 points.

I agree - interesting that Puerto Manzano improved considerably - trainer mentioned in the True To Life interview that he believes horses come well in cycles - PM in March thru May last year won 3 in a row
