Frodo wrote: Not sure if that told us anything about the 3yr olds - Superman set his own pace and still Table Bay just hung on for 3rd - could be one of those rare occasions where the Cape Guineas form may not stand up

This Guineas form looks very solid to me.
Gold Standard franked the Selangor form- he will be a tough nut to crack in the Derby, although the connections may be tempted to have a go at the Met.
William Longsword had valid excuses in the Selangor, and has improved every run apart from that. He is a worthy Gr1 winner, and won't stop here.
Table Bay confirmed that his winning distance in the Classic flattered him- he sprinted away from them on the short run-in. May be best 1400m for now. Elevated was 2nd best in the Classic and made expected improvement over further- a serious horse.
The Jhb horses were disappointing, but they had to travel.
The Greyville 2yo colt form is clearly suspect, but it is a specialist course, and the draws are too influential. The filly form has worked out quite well so far.

It's very difficult for the jockey when a horse hangs into the stick- he had the stick in the right hand yet the horse hung out. More the fault of he horse than the rider IMO.

Guineas was run almost second slower than the other 1600 race. Nothing wrong with the form of the placed horses, but bound to be some turnarounds on form.

Yes, but the first two home in the Jet Master were carrying 51kg vs Guineas 60 kg. That 9 kg is worth 3 seconds.

Guys,
I lost a big bet on Horizon x Nightingale. You win some you loose some. However got half back by following Grant on Silver Master. Gonna have a full go tomorrow.
Muscatt x Millrace x St Elmo's Fire.

If they run??

Fair enough but that would be relevant if they went flat out. Point is they went out and slowed it down early on. Lots of horse trying to get position or stay 6-7 lengths off the pace had nowhere to go and never had a run.
Still think the best horses finished in the first 3 but expect will be some bad luck stories and some better runs by some of them will be forthcoming

singapore sling heavenly blue finished the same distance apart today as they did in the dingaans so the form of the race could be genuine

Different points of view - which in itself means that there is no concluding view on who is the 'better' horse - imo tactics won the day - Edict of Nantes and Heavenly Blue I think the decision was to drop them in from the bad draws, while the winner's tactics proved correct on the day (aided by what appeared to be a muddling pace) - run the race again from different draws and I think the result might be different - time will tell

a nice days racing with top horses competing.i think horizon will be a big runner in the derby, jhb and kzn 3 yr olds are not up to the standard of the cape 3yr olds at this point in time, but maybe they will improve with time.
bela bela won a nice race on her seasonal debut and could be a big runner for the met,if they elect to run her in the met,a shoe in for the paddock stakes with the only danger being silver mountain, who was given an easy run today with plenty of improvement to come.
