no stats easy, just perception.....in fact i think there's some serious price manipulation going on over there....many times the initial favourite gets rolled by a heavily supported second fav.

I don't go with "everything" being a conspiracy when there is a result like this. There was no big layoff or change in distance and have seen nothing about an inquiry about the jockeys ride.

I have no doubt the result was a surprise to the yard . HOWEVER, I'm also pretty sure that the plan was to have an " easy" where the horse was allowed to relax, behind cover, and then run on while not being overly hard ridden to win.Which is wrong! And probably happens often enough to warrant closer attention by the authorities.
The fact that he didn't kick on,was probably the unforeseen bit.
Difficult to prove and I think the accusations are a bit harsh about cheating and misleading punters, but deep down, the stable probably do know they let punters down, and got called on it.

Keniza999

Odds on favourites in Handicap races won 53%
Odds on favourites in Maiden stakes races won 61%
Odds on favourites who are 1/4 or shorter won 86%

UK figs

and remember in the Sparkling Wine case we not talking about a mediocre horse. It was a "handicap" but a conditional one. SA at this time of year has many conditions races which "serve" to set/prepare high rated horses for the season ahead....backing these horses i think will put you in the poor house.

1: over rated
2: not ready

no i can't check interbet BUT there are 2 jockeys in sa at the moment that in every race they ride and their horses are shorter than 5/1 the volume on betfair for that event is significantly higher....

Would the simple thing not be to have all trainers comment on their runners before hand. A simple 1 liner saying he isn't going to be pushed will at least let us know and then it becomes our decision whether to back.

It amazes me that in this day and age this isn't a pre requisite.
I didn't choose the #puntlife, the #puntlife chose me!

In my conclusion, they will have no luck after this. Yes LUCK. As another clanner put it, Karma is a Bitch.
Look how well they did after the Pierre Jordaan debacle. Their worst season ever.
Added fuel to our already poorly viewed sport.

Khargisland it sounds to me you would like to be spoon fed on the well being of EVERY trainers horse running . They made their statement . At the end of the day its called GAMBLING. So no need for the aggressive comment. Rather not comment on something you THINK you know everything of but actually have no idea what your talking about. I love reading this forum and not one for giving comments but your personal attack on decent people is a disgrace

I think that this is only the tip of the iceberg!
At the same time, like always, this will blow over and everything will continue as usual. Those in the know will continue to manipulate "us suckers" and enrich themselves.

But history shows that such a situation is never sustainable long term .

I and a few others I know have quit punting for a while now and will never return.

I do still enjoy reading ABC though.

Pity nobody is interested in hearing " the voice of the punter"
