Don, you have clearly never attended a NHA agm!
If anything of this nature is raised, discussion is curtailed as being "inappropriate".........and you will note that there is an amendment to formalize the subjects that may be discussed ........and no other meetings are held, that do entertain this type of debate!!!!!

I would point out that the NHA is funded by the operators who they theoretically regulate........talk about a conflict of interest!
It therefore does not have INDEPENDANT people!
The funding should be into an independent account and the NHA should report to a higher regulatory body ....................sadly that is probably the gambling board who are equally clueless!

Rob, I haven't attended many NHA AGM's you're right ! (bar one or two very heated ones!!) - but I do know about the political pressures....and the responsibility that the new board will have. It is important that concerned owners etc voice their opinion and put pressure where necessary so it moves in the right direction.

I can't imagine that the NHA controlled by a gov body will be better off? can racing not pull up its socks for its own good and get their house in order>?

sorry, just to clarify this discussion under initial topic - yes, with an NHA that is effective, this kind (Champagne Haze) and more (ie first timers) of thing will happen less and be better policed. It has to be - if racing wants the right image in order to attract+retain market.

I agree wholeheartedly.
My working life was in the short term insurance industry and it's continual failure to regulate itself eventually led to a completely over regulated industry by govt.
I have been saying for ages that racing is heading in the same direction,for the same reasons ............................sadly,it appears to be inevitable!
