last week we had belle sonata winning a progress plate with just 7 runners and this week we have a grad plate with just 10 runners with one of the runners being a merit rated 45 trained by lg and owned by lg and mr leopeng ..guaranteed lg is running him here is because of his rating he keeps on getting eliminated from hcaps and this brings me onto my point and that is WHEN YOU BUY A HORSE AT A SALE STATISTICS WORLDWIDE AND FROM THE BEGINNING OF TIME THAT NOT EVERY HORSE WILL BE A FRANKEL OR A NIJINSKY BUT THAT OWNER WANTS HIS HORSE THE APPLE OF HIS OR HERS EYE TO BE ABLE TO COMPETE AGAINST HORSES OF EQUAL ABILITY ..if the operators dont put on races for these so called slower horses then those owners will leave the game in droves and they will not attend any more horse sales hoping to buy their frankel the next time and this has a knock on effect with the breeding fraternity ...the owner of moderate horses far outweighs the owners of good horses

My mate who is a form studier of note has done his life in these graduations and
Novice races. Horses 20 pounds out at the weights winning hard held
The 100 rated horse not ready. Good for punters my arse. I've read all of this fast and slow
The only conclusion I got to is the hatred for MR clouds common sense.

Owners have already deserted the game in droves Pirates, I'm not sure that your point is valid.

Pirates does make sense. But how many times must I repeat that Nijinsky, Sir Ivor and Frankel are NOT the horses being addressed here. The nice types are.
We all know that every horse is not a Champion. Owners know this. We are not addressing champions here. Form will speak for itself in the long term. The bottom line is that relief is hard to find for the consistent types. You will only get relief for a consistent horse by two things -1) the better ones move through (this takes very very long, as you are getting penalised for consistency all the time) and 2) Make sure that consistency means nothing and that the horse runs poorly for a few runs. That's what the system tells us to do !!!
It would be interesting to read the opinions of Easy and Pirates on today's race 6 at Vaal. Maybe look at the ratings of Gimme the money, Alpine Glacier and Rebel to the Fore(who got taken out at the start last time)....? Are all 3 being treated in the same manner ?
How would you rate them in terms of their chances today, this being a mixed plate race ?

Louis
I cannot spend too much time dissecting as the 32d sea water is crying for me.
BUT for me its easy, unlike my mate ant he will find the form in this race. Me I treat these plate races with the contempt they deserve. If I was able to log in and place a bet from my current location I would be putting the field in race 6 ........

Is that not a contradiction, Easy ?
Let me get this right - you believe in the MR system in handicaps but believe that MR has no relevance in plate races ?

lg a tough race but would side with gimmethemoney who doesnt seem to run 2 same races in a row and then al azraq who has plenty ability but clearly issues..rebel to the fore although best in has her 2nd run within a short space of time after a long rest and being so lightly raced clearly has many issues ..alpine glacier much improved with tongue tie is my 3rd pick but also runs close to his last race behind your filly ..just a bit off the topic but after many requests to the team at computaform they still fail to contact the hcaper regarding the ratings of horses if they havent had more than 3 runs a prime example being the 2yo quinlan in the 6th and also the 4th race today where you have flexible fugitive and ideal secret taking on older horses...if you havent got the ratings even if unofficial how do you have a best weighted column and how do you have an average merit rating for the race ..the mind boggles

Could anyone clear up 2 issues for me please
1) are the merit ratings done by a panel of handicappers or just 1 nominated handicapper
2) who decides who the line horse will be when evaluating a race.
How often is the line horse being used questionable?

The handicapper is already handicapped by not being allowed to make the correct linehorse in every race that is run. Sometimes the linehorse should be the 5th or 6th placed horse but handicapper only allowed to make 3rd place horse at most the linehorse in handicaps that isnt listed or graded races.
Thats where punters should find the true abilities and ratings and value by handicapping the races themself and find some bombs ...you not finding that in newspapers and/or in any publications . I tried and tested them all and they all failed.
If you have the time to watch each race a couple of times, taking the time of race into consideration and then handicap that race on what you see on paper with all other factors like going , draw , pace ,wind direction , tactics etc ...you will become a rich man punting. Very hard long hours but the rewards will be massive in the long run.
