Horse Chestnut is by Fort Wood out of London Wall.
Horse Chestnut is a kind of tree (very beautiful strong tree too, imho) that is grown a lot in London and the UK generally. Wood/London, that's the connection.

HUMDINGER!!!!!.....I was 12yrs old and listening to the Gold Cup on the radio in the car with my Dad where my Grandfather had entered his charge FLEETOWNER.....clearly remember Ernie Duffield calling them home....when HUMDINGER got up to beat FLEETOWNER my Dad nealy crashed the car.....I don't know who trained the winner but the late Arthur Faul was assisting and asked my Dad for advice in prepping for the race....:S

Was only a 1 time winner over 6f at Belmont Park
16.1 hds. Sent To South Africa 1970. Boshoff Farm Stud in Durbanville.
Died 1994. Sired Fast Piece champion3YF South Africa, Monastery, Song of Peace, etc.
My late Dad trained a few of his projeny....they were lightening fast....the best of his was Overlord and landed up a 10 time winner....

Was this the same Overlord who raided Ascot, Bulawayo, twice? I remember the local bookies pricing up as to whom will run 2nd, thats how hot that Overlord was.
