I agree, but I'm much less keen on some of the short one-word names they're starting to come up with now.

Harmony Forever. Won the Guineas in Natal beating the mighty London News and Ashtontown when with Dennis Drier. Won the Greyville 1900 two years later for Mike de Kock in a canter. Wasnt for it unsoundness it should have done better. Key of Destiny not to bad either.

And my fave horse in the 90's Cape Saffron.

Secretary General trained by Paddy Kruyer . Horses with strong , powerful names have always seemed to win the big races. Wolf Power, Politician , Pocket Power , Horse Chestnut , Flaming Rock to name a few.

I think it was Karl Neisius (who was part of the syndicate that bred her) who rode her when she won first time out.

Sometimes I feel sorry for people who give horses clever or "punny" names only to have the pronunciation butchered every time they run. Years ago there was a horse in PE called Sheik's Spear (Shakespeare...), but out friend Alan Schoeman inevitably called him Sheek's Spear.:D

Jack Syndicate. Karl Neisius was the 'K'. Jehan Malherbe the 'J'. I don't remember who "C' was, but I think 'A' was only added to make a sensible word.
