Sunningdale and Tamarillo for me, but it looks a hard card and a few surprises are likely.

Take it the dogs are all barking about Sky Marshall? surely place bets on a couple with experience is the better way to go?

Laff seems to like the Turkey - Perhaps the boxed exata is a good play

first run out the maidens and on breeding she needs at least 10 furlongs!!! I think she ran a decent race though running on strong from way off them!

But I agree....Makes you wonder how horses win over 5 and 6 furlongs and are actually stayers.
Its a sickness in SA where horses make their debut over 1000m even though they need 2400m to be effective.....Unlike in the UK where they make their debut over more suitable trips!!!

True, Tommy. It seems almost mandatory to sprint even the stoutest plodder as a career opener. When someone dares to be different it is assumed the horse is useless and generally opens at big odds. If the horse's name is Mirage Drive...opportunity knocks!

Spot on Magic....If there is an opening in the market you should fully expoit it in your favour!!!
Obviously the stigma is strong enough that the bookmakers will open first timers over longer distances at great odds.....Big opportunities!

One of the biggest wins I ever had was on a filly called Imperious Sue (She won the met for David Payne after being transferred from Gary Alexander yard)
She won her debut over 1400m at Turffontein and opened up at 14/1....Yummy!!!!!

;)
