If we only knew when those pesky future met winners were going to make their debuts they would be calling me the Oracle

I know she didn't quite win the Met but when Mother Russia won 1st time out she started at 66/1. I will tell you this, though. Ramsden horses rarely win on debut, but the few that do are almost always SERIOUSLY good horses. Bravura is another that comes to mind. Follow them!

Correct Magic!!
There is the school of thought that when a first timer wins unfancied on debut they could be a good horse as they either won over a distance short of their best and not being wound up or was showing nothing in work........
Another piece of information I like to look at is horses showing good pace over sprints on debut and then get put over a longer distance. I have backed many a winner this way as the breeding and conformation all point to it needing ground and if it shows pace on debut there must be something there?
Maybe its just my warped way of thinking

I tend to think the same way. Maybe I'm also warped but I'm bloody proud of it.

Did I read somewhere that you are a lawyer/studied law?
maybe thats where the similarities come from...I'm a proud graduate from RAU in 1997 (B.Proc Llb)

I got a B Proc from what was then University of Natal in Durban but bailed out part of the way through my Llb. I'm no lawyer but I think that studying law taught me to think outside the box. Or maybe I was just born warped.

I have also not practised a day in my life, but it does teach you to be analytical in your thinking and also to incorporate logic into your every day life!!
We have the knowledge but at least we don't get people who wish us "at the bottom of the ocean"

:PI probably do, Tommy! Still. I'd a million times rather do what I do than be a lawyer.

See? The minute you tell someone you almost became a lawyer they ask you to bugger off. I bet this never happened to Matlock.
