Re: Re: morne winnaar gets slap

perhaps manne did the slapping....however one has to ask which jockeys were the instigators...was morne to loose the race...were they fixing the race AGAIN for another horse...
12 months without income...most jockeys will die of hunger...perhaps the horses will then be ridden to win.
perhaps we need to implement the mauritius system in Cape town...
perhaps all should get 12 months...for letting aboreal go to the front...
perhaps something like this was said...go to the front..skip clear...we WILL not catch you....
note that the Cape town pools are getting smaller...perhaps we are no longer playing Cape town races....

Racing is as clean as ever - if the right horse wins doesnt always mean its crooked. ie a money horse.

Should the first question not have been why was the smack given rather than to assume its cos he won the race?

Obligation to make it known...
Have reported it at turfontein stipes, the jockey club. nothing was done. nothing will be done. they watched the repays and were in agreement.
got threads...I must keep my nose out of their business..
got my car's tyres slashed at turfontein..
If you believe racing is clean, I have news for you.
I stood as a bookmaker on Turfontein, 39 race meetings. won 39 race meetings.
The books are open for inspection at the Gauteng Gambling board.
The issue is as follows : what is more important, the moral values or the business values.
The fav is 8/10. top trainer.
The jockey says : at best, I can run 3rd.
Now, do I lay the fav even R100k/R100k because I am a businessman or do my moral values convict me, hence I close the bookmakers board and lay no bets in the race.
Where there is money, there will always be corruption.
Hence the solution, sell the bookmakers license and punt only P6 with last 2 legs Field x Field, PA, 5 bankers, with last 2 legs with multiple horses.
So, if you are of a different opinion than the one I have expressed, you are entitled to your opinion, and I respect your opinion. sure that you will extent me the same grace.

There was an incident during the running of the race which nearly saw Andy and 2 others over the fence....when Andrew confronted morne after the race there was words exchange and things got out of hand....he has apologized and hopefully that will be the end of it...

Andrewst for someone who stood for 39 race meetings and never lost surely you cannot have any reason to complain ...but when you start taking jockeys opinions as gospel then it is time to opt out or get stuck out..the fact that he thought he would run 3rd at best does NOT mean it cant win bud....if he said he couldnt loose would you put your lifes savings on???

Titch, lets pass on the subject.
lets rather look at the PA for tomorrow...
2,16 x 2,3 x 3,6 x 1,3,5,6,7 x 9,10 x 3,4,8,10,11,12 x 3,6,8,9
P6 2,3 x 1,3,6 x field x 9,10 x field x field
what do you think

Anyone who thinks racing in SA doesn't have an element of fixing is in complete dreamland. The debate is not whether there is crookery but rather how much.
In every walk of life there is and will be corruption, why should racing be any different? Many lawyers, politicians, accountants, bankers, businessmen and sportsmen have been found guilty of fraud and corruption in some form. On the whole these professions have a small element of it but ultimately human beings in the financial world are motivated by profit and greed.
Would most jockeys, trainers and bookmakers be motivated by anything different? I wouldn't mention most of them in the same sentence as the words morality, ethics and honesty.
The bottom line is the greater the rewards of wrong doing in relation to the rewards of success, coupled with insufficient regulation, the greater the likelihood of manipulation. Would you say these are characteristics attributable to SA racing? Only one answer really.
The HKJC have the most stringent regulation in the world and they are still affected by corruption. SA's racing regulation is laughable in comparison.
How many times have we heard of stipes investigations only to hear later about suspended sentences, inconsistent penalties, meaningless fines and inconclusive results.
There will always be many unpredictable results trying to guess the running order of a herd of temperamental horses running over a field but don't for 1 second think this excuse gives SA racing a "clean bill of health".
My passion for racing overrides the negative aspects of the sport, it's just a shame very little is done to weed out the rotten eggs. What do the powers that be care anyway? As long as the industry players gets their slice of the pie who gives a damn about the mug punters...

Thank goodness for this thread...I thought I was an orphan.
I agree with Sasky entirely and,to add,I would ask.....With the amount of crime and corruption that exists, with the theoretical risk of arrest and conviction and subsequent criminal record, how much more likely when Hundreds of thousands of rands are out there, everyday, for the taking, with no fear of police action, and a slap on the wrist at worst(but improbable),from racing's regulators.
There are those that would have us believe that, in a country riddled with crime and corruption, our racing is squeaky clean!
