Off to a great start....first runner, first winner. 1000m, and a run with merit.
It's not conclusive of course, but much better than if it had run last!

Can't ask for much more! I see a few of them are starting to be nominated for races now. I can't remember any new sire who has generated so much speculation on whether he will make it or not.

He was a first class racehorse with the worst action possible.
Never seen one like this make it.

Barry has hit the nail on the head. VM was too much of a big actioned horse with no real gears, for some peoples' liking. Despite which I'd give him the benefit of the doubt. By and large I liked his babies more than Dynasty's - but time will tell.

Must be above average - the trainer doesn't have too many winners.

Barry
I never saw him race live (and you probably did), but he was never a bad actioned horse from what I saw and neither has anyone else said anything remotely like that. Are you sure you got the right horse?
I did see him when he returned to SA, I have rarely been more impressed as he looks every inch of the performer we saw on TV. I walks very well and moves very well in the paddock.
As an aside, Captain Al who is Al Mufti's first son at stud, can probably claim that his success is due to the fact that his progeny characteristically are great movers.

Maybe too much of a stayer's action rather than a poor mover per se, for some tastes? On the subject of Al Mufti's stallion sons, I'm dying to see what ill-fated Cataloochee's babies will look (and run!) like. Now there was a speed horse!

He will be a top stallion - he competed against top horses and his progeny should be suited to the Vaal Sand - I wish i owned one

I hope you're right, mr h, but the world is full of top colts that didn't shine at stud and there aren't many good races on Vaal sand. That said, I give him a good chance, for what it's worth.

Magic the secret is the cross to Mr P (western winter) My kind of horses - maybe not champs but solid (strong)earning horses as long as they stay sound
