Brandon Bailey is very passionate about horseracing. The overuse of superlatives at times can kill a commentary. In my opinion Clyde Basel and Graeme Hawkins in the years gone by remain the best and aspiring commentators should learn from them. Craig Peters in his heyday was excellent.

I was in my very early teens when I can recall Eric Denman commentating. Here is two vidoes of him calling a race. I doubt they similar.

.....imo the only guys around that are much more than commentators but will get or have got the full picture .....is Ali and Johan Malherbe only these have the type of smarts to evolve/ have evolved to be international bloodstock guru's in the same vain as David Raphael.....others simply talk the talk and quip from notes about breeding and pedigee..... but if you want to send a man to a sale abroad.....Johan is your man....and some time soon Ali should be there too..;)

Waar val julle ouens uit?
Julle is erger as ou anties met nat broeke.

There is a place for everyone under the sun.
Good luck to all.

Bumpy Alan Schoeman vat al die ouens wat julle noem vir brekfis!

Some of my nicest punting days was in matric 1994.
Every Friday after school, I will drive with my volla toe the Vereeniging tote to punt the ponies at Arlington / Fairview.
What a unique commentator.
We were only a handful of whities in the tote.
Now that guy could get exited the in the latter part of a race.

Al die ander ouens is pis en parrafien……

Where are you guys from?
You are worse than old aunties with wet pants.

There is a place for everyone under the sun.
Good luck to all.

Bumpy Alan Schoeman takes all the guys you mention for breakfast!

What a unique commentator.
We were only a handful of whites in the tote.
Now that guy could get exited in the latter part of a race.

All the other guys are pissed and paraffin……

Whilst i'm grateful for the Viljoen's, Werner's et al.....i get a bit tired of hearing how much money they put into the game and deserve every success they get....and how you are chommies with trainers and owners and braai with them at the stables...ad nauseum....i'm here for the ponies....PERIOD!!!

Cut all that crap out of your commentaries and focus on just calling the race and leave the post race brown nosing and after race merchant stuff like that commentator from KZN who will never forget to tell us AFTER THE RACE how a horse came down from 12-1 in the betting to 7-2 and shat in...like it was obvious and making me feel like a tool

Other than that Brandon's passion is amazing and there's not much more to say about Ali that hasn't been said here.

I have to be brutally honest and say i do not like the current crop of presenters. Imagine if Ali and Brandon did the presenting as well with let's say Nadine backing them up....now that would be great!!!

.....one can only please some of the people some of the time.....but most of the time it's the mute button....and I still have not tried sorting out my Cenova situation and only stream racing on my laptop where the mute is faster to find....
.....for me up country racing has become far too stale..... as I see right through the lipstick....Cape racing is simply demonstrating forward thinking in acquiring the best young talent we have so that folks stay interested.....and I leave it up them to put the right people in their right places.....as so far I for one cannot fault them as each move seems to be well thought out and properly planned.....they seem to know the way forward and have already achieved so much more than any other....

@ Elmo.

It starts around the 40 seconds mark. It was more of a tactical ride on Main Man.
