One runner at Vaal on Thursday. I am Who I Am in race 1. Poor last few but drops back in trip. The dam was best at 1000m so this may be the right move. Fort Lauderdale should win easily, and Someday Maybe next best, but the rest are weak, so maybe a place.
One runner at Fairview on Friday. Quasimodo in race 2. Perfection looks impossible to oppose, and Heathcliff looks best of the rest, Quasimodo is still improving so should run a place and may turn the tables on Heathcliff despite the weight disadvantage. Zatara Magic ran a shocker last time on poly, but on best form is well weighted, so include.

Quasimodo ran a decent race close up 4th, and looked to be a bit squeezed on the rail for his run, so might have gone closer with a clear run.
One runner at Turffontein on Saturday. Aussenkehr runs in the 10th race and goes for a hat trick. Its a very competitive race, but he must have a decent ew chance on what he has shown in Jhb.

Gutsy win by Aussenkehr.
Two runners at Fairview on Friday. Mhlabeni in race 2. He is very consistent and equally effective on both surfaces, so has an ew chance. However, Grazinginthegrass is very well in at the weights and should win. Peace in our World is weighted next best, but hasn’t won for 2 years.
* Elusive Jewel runs in race 4. She showed surprising pace last time when making all and fading late. Trying the drop in trip although she is bred for much further. Hoping that she can make the frame.

Good win by Elusive Jewel. Elusive Fort racking up quite a few winners recently.
Kudos to young T Gould- after her last run he recommended running her over shorter and he was spot on. I was sceptical as she is bred to go 2000m. Breeding is a funny game.
Four runners at Kenilworth on Wednesday- all at generous prices.
*Lady Renee runs in race 4. She ran a much improved race last time and her greenness on the bend cost her the race. A big, competitive field, but she has as much chance as anything else, and worth an ew nibble provided the outside going is fair.
* Treasure Hunt runs in race 6. She has had a nice rest and comes out fresh. Has a fair draw and should be fit enough to run a good race.
*Sunlit From Heaven runs in race 7. She came from far back to finish well last time, and this course should suit her better. Unfortunately got raised 5 points for running 5th, and she would prefer a bit further. Has an ew shout in another competitive field.
Beau Kala runs in race 9. Needs to repeat her penultimate. At best has an ew chance in this lineup.

Good run by Lady Renee, beaten a length into 4th having to come across from the less favourable side of the track. Should pick up a race soon this class.
Treasure Hunt tired- seemed to need the run more than expected, and maybe time to try her a bit further.
Sunlit a bit disappointing and she needs to come back down in the ratings.
Beau Kala below best.
One runner at Vaal on Thursday. Understated in race 3. Is 10kg under sufferance so has no chance.

Elusive Fort - Adorable filly Kommetjie Storm top priced lot at the National Yearling Sales at R3.2m. Congratulations to Oldlands Stud ( Sanne family) for this achievement.
Best wishes to purchaser Kestorm Investments- hope that she can emulate her brother on the track.
Overall the sale was solid with a high clearance rate, and a pleasing increase in both median and average.
Limited foreign interest as we still await the overdue results from the EU audit re AHS.

One runner at Kenilworth on Wednesday. Major Winter in race 6. Has shown little in CT, but if he decides to put his best foot forward he has beaten stronger than this. We live in hope.

Another super run by Golden Tatjana narrow second in the Godolphin Barb.
One runner at Greyville on Monday- Exceeder in race 2. Goes well on the poly and has been knocking on the door for his next win. Should be involved in the finish.

Exceeder plodded into 4th- a bit disappointing.
One runner at Vaal on Tuesday. JP Twothousand seems a shadow of his former self.
Carded to run again on Thursday at Turffontein.

Improved run by JP2000 on Tuesday in 4th.
One runner at Greyville on Saturday. Common Grounds in race 2. Very difficult draw for a first run, although all 4 of the mare's previous runners are winners. Dr Faustus is the one to beat, Winter games, Jury's Out, Thisiswhatitmeans all have shown ability, so this is looks a fairly strong maiden juvenile as one would expect on a big day.

Promising debut by Common Grounds- was out of its ground from the d wide draw and green, but still not beaten far. Should be in the money next time.
Nothingelsematters has relocated to Gauteng and had his first Highveld run on Tuesday. 1400m is too short for him, but ran a very good race in 2nd, and is another to be with next time.
Two runners at Fairview on Friday. Mhlabeni runs in race 3. Very competitive race, but he is super consistent and always in with an ew shout. Is probably better over slightly further, and not being ridden by one of his usual jocks, but must include.
Quasimodo runs in the Derby race 7. Quite a step up in class, but he ran way above his official rating in the Trial. The key here will be which horses stay the 2400m. Perfection is the class horse and is 3kg better off with Heathcliff so should turn the tables on him if he sees out the trip, and is the one to beat. Quasimodo has a couple of lengths to find on Heathcliff, but seemed to be baulked last time so I think has a good place chance, and could win if improving a bit more.
If one uses Zatara (MR91)as the line horse in the Trial when receiving 2kg from Heathcliff, then Heathcliff ran 98 but was capped at 92, and Quasimodo ran 93, but unchanged at 80.
Quasimodo’s dam stayed well ( she ran 4th in the CT Winter Oaks), so there is a good chance that he will enjoy the 2400m

Mhlabeni no show.
The Derby will probably be added to next Friday card.
One runner at Turffontein on Sunday. JP Twothousand runs in race 8. Gets a good draw and Khumalo retains the ride. Much better last time and could again be competitive in an open race.
