Gutsy win by Mhlabeni under a strong ride by Warren Kennedy.
Good week for Elusive Fort - 4 winners from 16 runners.
We have *Drama Queen running on Sunday at Greyville in the 8th. A strong Pinnacle, but her ideal course and distance, a good draw and a handy galloping weight. Winter Smoke makes the trip from the Vaal, and is best in at the weights. A competitive race but I think that we have a decent ew chance.

KZN a washout, and even if they manage to get a meeting this week the training tracks are under water so training schedules disrupted.
Gentleman has relocated to PE and runs in the 6th on Tuesday. He has come down to a low rating, and has been running against stronger in CT. He has had a strong canter on the poly, and seemed ok on it, but this will be his first race on the surface and so always a question mark. This trip and track possibly a bit sharp, and he can be a bit of a tricky ride. I’m hopeful of a good run under bottom weight, but too many unknowns to be confident.

Gentleman outpaced this trip and didn’t get much help from the rider.
The postponed Sunday meeting was run Thursday and shifted to poly. Fair run by Drama Queen in 4th, and might have gone closer if not stuck on the inside rail where he going seemed a bit dead.
Friday we have *Mistress of Means in the 8th at Fairview. Tough draw to overcome but she needs to run on the turf so we have to take our chances. With some luck in the running she could earn.
Saturday *Pretty Betty takes on a very strong field in the Empress Club Stakes. Rain forecast and hopefully the meeting is not disrupted. This will be her 3rd start in Gauteng and she should have had sufficient time (10 weeks) to acclimatise. The visitors have made this a much stronger race and we have to improve quite a lot to threaten. However, she is suited to soft ground and should come on a few lengths from her last run when outpaced late over shorter. I’ll be thrilled if we can somehow sneak a place.
JP Twothousand runs in the 9th and should again be competitive.
Elusive Fort hit #1 among the top 20 stallions for the year to date measured by Average Earnings per Runner. His daughter, Sprinkles gets a tough draw on Saturday but could be the best of the Gauteng based runners in the Empress Club.

Indigo Fields 3rd on Monday on a wet poly track.
Exceeder 5th race at Kenilworth on Wednesday. Fourie sticks with him and he should again be competitive.
5 runners at Fairview on Friday.
* Elusive Jewel in race 1 - Her debut was not great, but should improve with the experience and over this trip.
* Miss Jacqueline in race 4. Disappointing local debut, and hoping for improvement here.
*Grey Princess and Cape Point in race 6. Grey Princess needs to improve to feature. If Cape Point gets a run, he should make his presence felt.
*Vic Falls runs in race 8. Returns from a long break, but is a decent sort and if not needing it can challenge.

Exceeder a good second.
A bad day at Fairview for us.
Pretty Betty found the field too strong but not disgraced.
JP twothousand maintaining form with a good second place.
Three runners at Kenilworth Sunday
Quasimodo in race 2- poor debut but hopefully some improvement to come
Treasure Hunt in race 8. Gets a better draw this time and can earn in a competitive race
I’m in Charge in race 9. Needs to show improvement but has the benefit of a low weight in a weakish race.
The yearlings have all arrived safely in Gauteng and I will be at the sales venue this week .We have a very smart draft of 7 under Black Swan. Now we just need the buyers!

Improved run by Quasimodo after gelding.
I’m in Charge off to PE- won’t win in CT
Treasure Hunt well deserved win and holding form nicely
*Encryption runs at Fairview on Friday in race 6. Strong handicap but she is very honest, good draw and regular jockey back, so I think an ew chance.
Two runners at Scottsville on Sunday- *Drama Queen is in good form and should be in the money. *Just for Laughs back from an enforced break, so may need it. Showed good promise last season so hoping that she puts in a good effort.
