Guys I am really looking forward to this card.

It has been a long time since I have seen full fields and competitive racing.

Race 1 Futuras Hope ran 5 lengths of Eric the Red first time out and should improve to beat this field if Cheyne can overcome the draw and get him across.

I am not so sure the draw is a concern in the winter conditions. The problem is the little sheople all try get to the inside. I wish one little appy would just stick to the outside rail and win by 6 lengths ...

The sun is shining after rain last night. The official going is good to soft with a pen of 26. I suspect that its soft to heavy after the storm last week and a bit more rain last night. They also say a tailwind- the weather site I use says a light headwind! No wind at present and shouldn't be a factor. The winter going has generally favoured the inside draws down the straight although a couple have done well by running up the extreme outside rail.
Race 1 Seeking the Stars good debut and again drawn on the best side. Somerset Maugham was beaten by the lesser fancied stable companion in the same race on debut, and has less than 2 lengths to find on the favourite, but draws extreme outside. Futura's Hope fair debut behind the smart Eric the Red but was getting 6kg that day. The value ew bet is Ticket to Ride currently 10/1 and good improvement in open company last time. The time of his race was marginally slower than the juvenile race contested by Seeking the Stars and he is up 3kg, so does need to improve further, but also cracks a nice draw. First timers ??
Race 2 Gayleactic Star has good form and is the one to beat. I will be shouting for Major Attraction which showed good improvement last time and looks the value ew play. Quite a few with 1 run under the belt that could improve to win and again a few first timers to complicate matters. note that Pharr Canal is now called Pharr Out. I'm sure the commentator is relieved, and I can shout for her too!
race 3 A very open maiden. We have Elusive Tango running. needed his last run and the rider fought him for 800m instead of letting him stride out after jumping well out the gate, and compounded the last 300m. Will strip much fitter today and has an ew chance at a big price, although I think he is better suited to Durbanville, this course is better than the summer course for him. Morse was a narrow loser last time, but loses the 4kg claim and has a wide draw. Nixon also a good run last time but even worse draw. the Second Wave had consistent form before the break and if fit will challenge. Fort Agopian should enjoy the step up in trip and must have a shout. What a Man and Themadirishsheriff and Alfred's Legacy are well exposed but have upset potential. Bey Suyay looks the best of the 2 year olds, but not an easy task at the weights this trip.
Race 4 The Vow has been costly to follow but with the plum draw and a good recent run under the belt should get it right today. Cape To Rio showed good improvement around the turn last time and despite the draw must be respected. Reef Knot seemed to need it last time and could improve. Musical Glitch has some good juvenile form and could have a say. Peanut Butter improved last run and could step up.
race 5. We have Drama Queen running- she ran a shocker last time and clearly was much more in need of the run after the break than we had expected. She should be a lot fitter today and is probably the only filly that can beat Sing Out Loud which is a worthy favourite after a very good performance last time.
race 6 A very tricky race where a number of runners are having their first run after the break or ran poorly last time..My tentative selection is Fortune Flies. An interesting runner is saints Alive which had decent Gauteng form.
Race 7 Another very open race. My selection is Freedom Seeker, with main dangers Queen of Quiet, In the Stars and casino Queen.
Race 8 Katak is the banker, and little between 1,3,4,5,6,7 behind him.
Race 9 A competitive Pinnacle. I like Elusive Trader, but plenty with chances and the low weighted Savea must be respected.
race 10 No selection

55-1 first timer wins.
These Cape trainers still don't have a clue about their babies.
