That's around 65 runners without success.
Still 12 more runners so hopefully she gets a long overdue win today.

No luck yet again today, around 75 now.
And there doesn't seem to be anything amiss with the stable the way she talks when they interview her on Tellytrack.
Got to get a winner before it reaches the 100 mark.

interesting days racing

some diabolical results with the 1st timers.

then some very nice horses.

General Franco and Frank Lloyd Wright probably better suited to EC racing.

but enjoyed watching the racing today.

Strange days racing for me.
- First timers from strong stables win at big odds.
- The jocks seemed the make the track look very narrow. Was it the wind ? Many hard luck stories, gaps closing and horses being eased out of the race.
- Some half hearted attempts at making the placings on a few of the heavily fancied horses.
- Katak looked very impressive. If the history of the Winter series is anything to go by, he looks a real star in the making.

It was good to visit the track after10 weeks absence.
Why are the results somewhat unpredictable.? Some possible reasons:
1. The course is in great condition, but this year we are enjoying a good old fashioned wet cape winter and the going is heavy after each storm. There is little historic wet weather form after a few years of relatively dry winters. Some horses just don’t act in the wet.
2. The lockdown effect is still lingering. The other centres have the facilities to allow as many grass gallops as the trainers need. In CT they are restricted to a few opportunities at Durbanville. The wet weather also affects the training tracks especially at Milnerton. Some of the Cape stables came out of lockdown with lots of unfit horses and have taken longer than expected to get all of them properly race fit.
3 Racing once a week means there are too few opportunities to race certain horses.
4. There are only 3 senior jockeys riding in CT this month - Byleveld, Cheyne and Orffer. While it’s great that many of the younger and neglected guys are getting opportunities, there are lots of horses being ridden by guys who don’t know them well and there is less consistency in racing tactics and pace judgement.
5. Having lost 2 months of racing, there are lots of unraced juveniles which trainers are running out of time to give an opportunity. Hence the bigger yards are entering a few in each race, without having had the time to test them against each other. In a normal year the yards will try not to run good ones against each other- this year they have little choice.

Despite all that, apart from the Stormsvlei Stakes where Sing Out Loud ran way below best and the winner improved 15 lbs on her previous form, to produce a shock result, and the first timers surprising in the juvenile races, the results were remarkably predictable.
Katak won at odds on
Races 3 and 4 also won by the favourite.
Race 9 and 10 won by well fancied horses
In the juvenile races the fancied form horses filled the places behind the surprise winners.
The Ladies Mile and Olympic Duel were very competitive and no result could be classed as surprising.

if you watch race 7 you would think the track was 10m wide

This race blew me out in the Bipot and PA.
still cursing
