Kenilworth, 20/11

Tricky card because punters will have little idea which three year olds have improved amongst the many relatively unexposed running.

R1) Congo Compaq (22/10) is my marginal choice. Appears to have been collared fairly late last time out, may have been a bit keen with the blinkers which have been removed. August Leaves is the danger.

R2) Alpha Pappa (9/2) may be speedy enough to pull this off. Favourite, Smart William, the yard will have a line on this one through Count Jack who beat Alpha Pappa. I could be wrong, but Smart William may be suited to further, so I'm playing to beat him despite the betting.

R3) Regimental (22/10), looks a good bet on the card. Down in class, you can put a line through it's last effort, drawn 11/12 at Durbanville which is never ideal, but did try to overcome that draw and had little to come hen it mattered. Tomorrow back up the straight, not sure there are many in this field that will live with him. Worth an on the head punt me thinks.

R4) Not overly crazy about anything, gun to the head, Ikebana. Really difficult race.

R5) Again, nothing jumps off the pages.

R6) Really fancy Golden Ducat ( 18/10), despite all the support for Pinkerton (18/10 into 15/10). Golden Ducat just looks open to more improvement than Pinkerton imo. Whilst Pinkerton's win looked impressive, not so sure of the strength of that field. Got to take a stand somewhere.

R7) Kelpie (2/1), my other best bet on the card and the double with my 3rd race selection. Really believe this horse is being cleverly placed, so is capable of pulling off the 4timer. Not going to over-complicate this.

R8) If Good To Know was better drawn, think he'd be hard to beat. Favourite, Track Attack, needs to be ridden a little more handily on a course with a relatively short run-in to feature - if not, any horse showing a little improvement will roll him resulting in a hard-luck excuse again.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

The 2020 Durban July winner is running in race 5

SOVEREIGN SPIRIT (WILL WIN)

The distance though

Run in is 600m's  so shouldn't be to much of a concern

By next year if hawwaam and sovereign spirit meet up in a race 2000m+ at level weights   SOVEREIGN SPIRIT WILL BEAT HAWWAAM!!

Brave words Biggie but not so sure about ever beating Hawaam or today judging by the stable comments. But who knows hope for your sake you right. I prefer the stable companion to be honest.

Don't leave Meraki out your play, and don't let the betting board put you off either. Be surprised if your fancy pulls this off, hasn't run since June, seasonal/first run in the Cape, more scary, the penalty incurred.

Break a leg though.

I think that SOVEREIGN SECRET IN Race 7 will be hard to beat today. Was running on nicely last time.

On a line through Kathleen, has a bit to find to beat Kelpie, not without a chance though, but a stiff task.
