You probably right Leo in general with SA racing.
This is only my opinion so many will differ from it.
Two instances where the Greeff stable tried to get a better price on their horse today.
In the first they back their first timer from 14-1 into 2-1(not sure how much money needed to shorten that far) and the late money comes for the stable companion Tawny Red,2-1 out to 5-1 backed into 28-10 and duly wins.
In the last today,Dubula 9-2 into 2-1 all the while it's stable companion,Seville, goes from 9-2 out to 6.5-1 then money comes for it very late right down to 3.8-1 and runs the better race of the two just going down narrowly and runs 2nd.
So to me it looks like they knew which of the horses had a better chance in their respective race and originally backed the 'wrong' to get an inflated price on the 'right' one.
Backing two horse from your stable if you didn't have an agenda just doesn't make sense.
As Tony T stated,it could be the punters betting and not the stable, but I have my doubts about that.
This is just how I saw it,and it's not 100% that this actually happened.

Maybe Greef doesnt punt or fire big, I dont know. Fortune stable is definitely a punting stable.

No trainers comment for this one yet gives a comment for Alpine Glacier with the stable jockey on.
And a bit of money for his other runner Seville, and Cheyne's horse drifting like a barge.

Karma will always get you in the end.

As far as iknow horses that are rested for an extended time require feedback/ wellbeing quote from trainers by the NHRA - This horse Alpine Glacier was rested since February hence the trainer comment - As can be seen from the rest of the card Trainer Greeff did not comment on his other runners - maybe because he is away on holiday and so was not called for comment ... everyday you will see comments from trainers with rested horses yet you may not see them comment on a runner with form- this is the fault of phumelela publishing I presume who should make it clear that certain horses are only receiving comments because they have been rested and not because the trainer has been contacted for comments on his runners but chooses not to comment on most of them but only on the rested one..

Look at Gavin Smith -only comment for the day is Dawnbreaker who has been rested since May...yet he had runners in other races - he was obviously not contacted by a journalist that comment is just the one he submitted to NHRA

Not sure how long the horses have to be rested for before the trainer is obliged to give a comment, but Dubula was coming back from a 10 week break, maybe not long enough.
I do understand what you saying though Mr.H.

To Durbs...

Please boet, I know the Greeff graft very very well. But it is very very simple to get around and I can explain later. So I really do think your suspicions aren't too far off. I wrote a special message to guys like Bill Human and others from Flamingo because I have found blokes like him, being true to form. Snaith, the old Bass and Greeff are people you best just switch your TV off when asked about runners to come or race comments...the answer lies in the form. It is so clear mostly which one they would run. Like this week with a Snaith pony... The favourite. But his other horse had brilliant form in two classes up and was weighted and drawn brilliantly and had time to improve. Yet Snaith and punters were bullish about his youngster. After being bitten for years they tend to pop out. Your best bet would be to decide today to never blame a trainer again, and take responsibility for your own form study...It is vastly more rewarding and the only way you can ensure a positive bank balance with longevity in mind...even if it takes a few years. I remember being upset about Bass lying to my face...then years later when I studied the race again realised how stupid I was for not being able to read my own form. And I said it earlier, often the trainer has no clue anyway. They know the farrier visited and that the horse ran close but was away on business when all this transpired...mostly they don't study like pro-punters. They often don't see the nuances. So see the trainer comments today... Many say EW chance and their ponies are nowhere. Unlike popular belief that the horse had an off day, I suggest to you people aren't reading form. So the bottom line is read trainer comments after you made your selections...then punt. I give you my word a time comes where you laugh at trainer comments because you know better...and sometimes they corroborate your findings. Be the pro.
