Cheyne hadn't managed to find interference for a while now but lived up to his nickname in that race.
But was never going to beat Toltec anyways.
You know how it goes,he's probably gonna ride the perfect race on Brandina in the next.

Indeed Craig... haven't figured out to quote and reply yet...
Only reason Toltec didn't appeal as much as Pick Again was place cover but essentially you didn't let the money lead your nose and selected the winner box...great stuff.

Greeff scheming again?
2 Dubula 4.00 4.50 3.50 3.00 3.15 3.55 3.30 3.40 3.00 2.65 2.55 2.20 1.80
No trainers comment for this one yet gives a comment for Alpine Glacier with the stable jockey on.
And a bit of money for his other runner Seville, and Cheyne's horse drifting like a barge.
5 Seville 4.50 5.00 5.25 5.85 5.00 5.25 6.00 6.25 6.50 5.50
1 Alpine Glacier 3.30 2.85 3.00 3.50 3.33 3.50 3.55 3.65 4.15 4.55 4.65 4.75 5.00 5.50
Karma will always get you in the end.

Seems that some of you guys, especially the moaners, really believe the trainers are the only punters.
The betting moves are market related, not trainers trying to mislead the public.
I do agree that the trainers comments are a different story though.
Not everything is a conspiracy. Get a grip !!

Tony T,you telling me Greeff is not a schemer?
In the first race today, will a person off the street back a first timer that they don't even have a comment for?
It's definitely the stable.
You remember the horse Andrew Fortune owned and Greeff told us he can't beat his other horse that was favorite yet was backed heavily, lost 6 lengths and won by 6.
This last race,Dubula was coming back from a 10 week break and only the trainer knew if it was fit or not.
You right, not everything is a conspiracy, but with that stable, you just never know what they plotting.

You know Tony T, you are so right...There is no way a price shrinks like that consistently if a trainer is concerned....I have only personally encountered it once where a trainer/punter affects a price and that was years ago at the Vaal.
I was aware of a 12/1 shot on a horse and could not understand how the price moved out from 12/1 to 25/1 when I was sure huge money was going to come for it...2 minutes before the off, "someone" dumped a tonne of money on it and it turned from red to green and shrunk immediately.
But in all honesty SA racing is very very fair for the punter and there isn't much graft going on. There are exceptions though...I have been had by trainer information quite a few times, until I really started studying and selecting winners...to be honest the dumbest punters in the world are more often, trainers. Go see the poverty some of the lesser trainers are living in at the stables, they might know a bit about training and at times could be legit in their information, but generally the majority have no clue...
To the rookies, there is no conspiracy. Learn to study and understand when a horse/trainer has the intent to run for the line. And be careful of the bigger stables with multiple horses in a race. Just skip and wait for the next race if unsure. Nobody forces you to hand your money to the bookie so relax and wait for the right punt.

Durbs, we have people commenting on horses drifting or shortening on the tote, using 30 mins before race time, as their starting point. We all know a 50/1 shot can sometimes open at evens on the tote. Maybe some punters lucky no & he puts R200 ew ??. The tote dividends can only be taken as a guide shortly before the off, maybe the last 5 or 10 mins.
Greef has unfortunately earned himself a reputation, but I dont believe he is involved in each & every upset regarding his stable.
As we all know horses dont always run to form, not everything is a plot.

As far as iknow horses that are rested for an extended time require feedback/ wellbeing quote from trainers by the NHRA - This horse Alpine Glacier was rested since February hence the trainer comment - As can be seen from the rest of the card Trainer Greeff did not comment on his other runners - maybe because he is away on holiday and so was not called for comment ... everyday you will see comments from trainers with rested horses yet you may not see them comment on a runner with form- this is the fault of phumelela publishing I presume who should make it clear that certain horses are only receiving comments because they have been rested and not because the trainer has been contacted for comments on his runners but chooses not to comment on most of them but only on the rested one..
Look at Gavin Smith -only comment for the day is Dawnbreaker who has been rested since May...yet he had runners in other races - he was obviously not contacted by a journalist that comment is just the one he submitted to NHRA
