The reasons and solutions are numerous BUT the racing authorities incl Phumulela NHRA plus RA should be there all of them trying to sort this thing out.. I posted on this a month ago and they are just leaving it up to the trainers and have done f... all .. talking about why and how to solve a multitude of conditions and political agendas is futile until everyone gets behind the trainers.. I cannot understand why people don’t see this!! FFS

Nail on the head Oscar - Earning 3M yet do zippo for owners if all the family deals get calculated in he takes more home than all the grooms that look after our horses - Again lets seek solutions I saw trainers want 3% more I will gladly agree to that 3% if it can go to the grooms .
When I started racing in 1994 (I think;-) ) a win cheque would cover 10 months keep now a win cheque ( money in pocket of owner ) cover 3-4 months .
NHRA are also excelling in their intervention on the grooms issue. We all tend to get upset with the grooms but are they really that wrong? isnt it just fair to earn more than a living wage , especially if you consider the cost of the animals they look after?
Meeting get cancelled the stakes for the day dissapear ??

Is this sadly for SA horse racing " for whom the bell tolls; It tolls for thee."
The racing authorities are conspicuous by their absence in sorting this crisis out taking into account that it has been brewing for some time.

Where is that grooms association that was set up by a member of the board of the RA and a former member?

Please forgive any ignorance in my questions...
Has anyone seen the stakes agreement to understand why it has not kept pace with increased cost structure of the environment ? Is it because pools are lower due to other forms of gambling or an increase in take-out to cater for a top-heavy structure?
Are there products producing too few "winners" to have money bet back into future bets? Comes down to consistency of form and being able to trust the information...if results are a lottery, it makes sense for a betting person to take the proper lottery rather than spend / waste the time looking at form that doesn't hold up...

My 2cents worth....
I find the silence from the powers that be ... is deafening.
Surely , this protest/strike action must have been brewing for a while.
The people that are getting screwed i.e. owners, trainers, public and Grooms , have no recourse but to sit back and see how it plays out . this is pathetic.
I own businesses and the moment issues arise , I sort it out. Everyone wants to earn a decent living , so instead of being reactive why don't they try to be proactive.
Happy consumers (owners, trainers, public and Grooms) Happy Business . I know this sounds simple but it works

With all that is going on , Makes me think about Mr Garrick's posts regarding Sport Betting
Bookies are smiling today , more staff to concentrate on their sports betting.

Guys seriously please please forget about the racing.. we all need especially the operations to get behind the trainers urgently urgently somehow is going to get hurt trying to guard horses.. this is totally unacceptable that the owner of the Centre has not got the police involved.. do it ASAP!!
