I have just read his latest about how great racing was in his day and how bad it is now and he's right. Does anyone have a clue about his allegation that there is an impending investigation into Phumelela?

Len come protect big L the toppie had the temerity to document this "there are questions that arise about the nature of the relationship between the betting operator Phumelela and those within the Racing Association whose task it is to protect the Sport"

He must be bad for racing!

He’s probably thinking because Jooste was involved with Phum at one point that they will be investigated?

More than likely putting 2+2 together

Wow his expose Tellytrack – Cape Guineas is a real work of art and precise in every aspect.
If that doesn't wake Tellytrack from their slumber nothing ever will

Sure he got bumped and moved to a GC? They used him as a presenter but it was like watching paint dry

interesting that he said the following "I reflect on this because those were fabulous days which enabled us to grow our sport right up to the public interest level of rugby and cricket. In those heady days, it was simply unthinkable that this great sport could sink to today’s level in which there is no free to air broadcast and a controlled and narrow media that constricts rather than enhances the sport."

i have lived the above nightmare and agree totally with Martin, after conceiving the Formgrids concept and sharing it with racing for the purpose of educating to enhancing the racing experience for fans and professionals of the game all I got was resistance rather than acceptance from those who are meant to promote the sport, Phumelela cares only for Phumelela and yes it cant serve two gods so racing will never be its priority so how on earth is Phumelela allowed to control so many aspects of the sport, as Martin says something must be done, he touched on that the people in place to serve racing are compromised by Phumelela and ulterior motives are the order of the day.

David just would like to hear your reasons for agreement .... formgrids hassles aside the average PUNTER is offered so much more today than the punter back in those heady days say 1976 to 1985... was no tellytrack no racing discussion forums no online betting, no formgrids.
jockeys were only advised the night before in the newspapers before race day , nobody had access to noms and final fields plus plenty more so unless you were informed you had to follow the money or act on inside info. Martin owned horses in this era [ Wanda Jane ] and I know the stable made money in those days because no info was given to the average punter.

Mike at least you call him Big L now...

Len the spirit of racing Administrators in those days as Martin points out was to build RACING for racing, the good of all partisipants, in the same spirit I gave Formgrids to the man in the street,, these people running racing today work with other motives , Racing comes last, every last cent is squeezed out of the punter and proffit for the company comes first, then themselves(fat salaries, perks, bonuses) then maybe Racing gets something,
