Mr Jooste was one of my legends growing up. I took note of his colours when I was 18 years old (our giant, lion tamer etc) and always wanted to experience success like him. I would admire his sense of speech, his attire as well as the man that he was to the public eye. I bought my first horse when I was 19, because it was the start of a journey aligned to his success. I followed his professional growth over the decade and internally wished I was the chosen one to be his racing manager (yet I am nowhere close to the knowledge and competence of Mr Brugman).

This ordeal is a shocker, and here again, we are all too quick to change tune and kick sand in a mans face. So I ask the question, is our respect for "esteemed" people nothing but a façade, until a crime is committed? If so, I caution all our senior players in racing and beyond to be careful of us, as we are no different to Shakespearean villains.

I just want to say thank you for gracing us with amazing champions over the years, and through whichever way, inspired a young man to reach for the stars too!

.....Press I feel for you as your sentiments are misplaced......I for one would never had wanted to be in a boardroom facing MJ..... as he scared the sh!t out of me..... a corporate bully of note.....I observed him at sales....and specially when he nipped of for a smoke..... and even eavesdropped on some of his conversations....the man was a tyrant.....and as for his lackeys.....you would have had to be an an exceptional @rse licker and and expert groveler....dont set your sites and hold his racing manager in esteem either....a 1st class henchman and did most of the dirty hatchet jobs.....and you are a better judge of horse flesh than what he would ever be....
