Isn't Gavin van Zyl a registered KZN trainer ?? Bella Sonata has run quite a few races in Kzn.

My point is it's a poor field with old tried and tired horses for a large stake.

top 100 rated horses SA - I think some of the cape horses should rather have come up for this than hoping for a win in the QP or MET .. they have done well here before - a horse like It's My Turn may well have done well here

thats why the queens plate is the best miile race in the country not biased as i live in the caoe but the Durban and Jhb season dont come close to the summer of champions Mike Robinson could of taken shall be free for this and would of cleaned them up

Yeah he is a registered KZN trainer with a Joburg satellite yard run by Chesney. Whilst we naming KZN trainers with Joburg satellite yards it would be remiss of me to forget Weiho Marwing

The race does plenty good work for Charity, maybe we should focus more on the event than the actual race.

Sure there are another 6 features that day to get excited about also

just a thought - perhaps all graded races in SA should have a point scale - operators fund a big pot maybe 5 million for the horse that scores the most graded points in a season (sales companies maybe add 1 million if a graduate wins the series) - only races open to all horses - Then perhaps you will find horses chasing Graded races - Maybe not but an incentive to compete might negate the risk of travel
