Magnolia – Green Pepper

This is a really smart filly. I think she has the potential to be too good for this bunch – She’s beaten the smart Rivarine, she gave Hack Green a run for his money. That was over the 6 furlong so I see no problem with the 1160 here. Loved her last win – looked like an exercise gallop for her and that was her 2nd run after rest. 3rd run after rest now and she’ll be at her peak. I expect her to have a massive chance in this race. She’ll go close.
Dangers for me: Crystal Glamour who this extra 200 will suit even better combined with being 3kgs better off with Green Pepper and Rebel to the Fore.

Merchants – Trip to Heaven/Kangaroo Jack

Trip to Heaven won this 2 years ago then fluffed his lines last year but seems to be in a better place now – 2nd run after rest though but if reproducing his last win – should go very close here.
Kangaroo Jack – classy, classy horse. Versatile – only thing that worries me is the straight course. Hoping his turn of foot translates to the straight course too. If it does, then he’ll be exceptionally hard to beat – and that’s partly why I’ve backed him up with Trip to Heaven.

Fillies Mile – Dame Eleanor 2/1

She’s got a 100% strike rate and so do I backing her and I see no reason she can’t make it 3/3. That last win was more impressive than it looked. She was pulling hard in the early stages and took off late to win going away. Being by New Approach, she’ll love the step up in trip. I was really chuffed when Favour’s Pride came out and ran 4th in the fillies race and then Mogostar went and broke her maiden in the Cape – the form isn’t bad. All the scope in the world and I think she’ll go close.

Dingaans – Heavenly Blue 2/1

He’s crying out for the 1600-1800 now. MDK said that 7 furlong was most likely his absolute minimum. I think MDK has a nice line with Bold Rex who put up a great display against older horses in the Victory Moon – I fancy Heavenly Blue to be really better than Bold Rex and he’s a huge runner here. Slightly nasty draw but he runs on from the back anyway so probably won’t do much harm. I feel with another well-timed run, he’ll nab the leaders close to the post and win going away. Hoping he’s good enough.

Dangers: Doosra, Singapore Sling.

Summer Cup – Ten Gun Salute 22/1 antepost, 16/1 available currently

The usual open race and TGS is my pick. He’ll be absolutely primed for this race. 3rd run after rest – stepping to 2000 after runs over 1400 and 1600. This is his optimal trip. Still ran a fair 6th in the Charity Mile – look he’s not a miler and that was a fair effort, beating 10 runners home. The way I’ve looked at it is any repeat of the Daily News run (where he should have been closer considering the snail pace) and he’ll be fighting out the finish. He’s still got scope to improve IMO, has the right weight and this has been his mission for a long time now. The long straight will be ideal and GVN should place him at the back and make a late run. With luck in running, I make him a huge contender, especially at the prices.

Ipi Tombe – Negroamaro

I think I’m a sucker for punishment with this filly  3rd run after rest now, re-united with Marcus – loves the standside – won on this day last year. Come on!

waiting for better prices with some of these like N and GP. Betting opened at WSB btw.

I will be very disappointed if I don't get a few winners on Saturday. Excellent fields.

Race 4 - Bull Valley @6/1. Unbeaten sprinting and I will keep following until he gets beat. Hasn't put a foot wrong imo and is getting weight from all the big guns. As long as Marwing keeps him calm until those gates open as he is a bit of nightmare, I fancy him to win.

Race 6 - Heavenly Blue @18/10. Agree with MOMF

Main bet BV and the double @18/1 seems a cracker for me.

At first glance I think the only possible banker on the card is Maleficent - imo very hard to beat at the weights and should prefer the 1600 - has Dame Eleanor well held on a line through Favour's Pride.

The Dingaans imo not as cut and dried as many think - Bold Rex ran really well last time and is worth his rating imo - also will not be stopping at the end in what will in all likelyhood be a hot pace - Janoobi also not out of it and at current odds, these two look like good value to me.

The big one is very open of course - Master Sabina won it last year and is now better off at the weights with Deo Juvente; Punta Arenas easily accounted for Master Switch in the KZN season, while there does not seem to be too much between Master Switch and Master Sabina on their last meeting (although odds are that Master Sabina will improve on that run) - so while I do not usually give much chance to visitors from KZN, if PA can run to his best, he must be a serious contender imo

Would be slightly cautious, I thought she never handled the bends last time

Agreed Bob - also think that the Inside Track is not her game either.
