Been so many over the years that rekindled my interest.
Earliest one I recall was listening to the July on the radio as a kid...TV hadn't reached SA yet. Was Yatagan and Elevation that my brother and I had picked. Pretty much took at least some interest in racing ever since.

So many memories but Nijinsky stands out along with Sea Bird.
Stand out memory was Dream World winning a mr70 at Turffontein at 14/1 and being interviewed while the jockey and trainer were standing next to me crying tears of relief and joy. 3 months before the stable had to stop racing and 6 horses died from poisoning, 4 of which were mine, including my favourite Gajima
Tough game to get out of your blood once hooked.

I have some fond memories from quite a few
Over The Air, Gatecrasher, Foveros, Calvados, Politician and Alpha Omega to name a few
But what really hooked me was Garth Puller and Felix Coetzee
Garth rode for Peter Kannemeyer and Felix for Theo de Klerk later Terence Millard
With them in there prime it was easier winning than today
At least thats how it feels today

I don't think its only about horses and jockeys and trainers. Racing was different.
My earliest memories are of trying to get into Loveday Tatts and up to the top floor without being spotted and chucked out for being underage.
On the floor below you had LEGENDS , bookmaking legends and punter legends
Len Smart
Zorro
Derick Flynn
Martin Sham
Raffi Goldstein
Bill Ferguson (on course) (with Bruce)
The HUGE guy at the door making sure who went in and out..
The indian shop next door with the best slap chips massala in the whole world
On the course you had
Leslie Faul
Sally Abrahams
The Leisher Family
Barties long standing kit man (i think it was cecil)
Mates, Greg Gallo, Clinton Parry, Herbie Vermeulen
The Leb's following the GIN
Then the horses too many to mention BUT so so so many.
Sloop
Model Man
WolfPower
Politician
Brutus
Occult
Sledgehammer
Spook Express
Senorsanta
Ralph Rixon
Terrence Millard
I could go on and on and on.......the memories are all there. They are ALL ONE.
