When you say "lay" you meant lay his winning sash on the mantle piece?
Years ago I could read the Matchett yard - Now I have no clue Chris. Made big money off them now I never know to brass or punt!!

There are many horses who only act on the sand and they can make a living. Owners who live in Jozi/PTA or surrounds don't want to travel to Kimberley to have a runner......
Seems like the easy way out to close and not to rectify the problem......
Oh well, just another blunder!
look at the winner of the third - three foals and all only perform on sand so one who family will be gone now- Kimberley is not the Vaal sand and I doubt very much if many of our sand runners will go on that surface - sad to see it close as I've had many a fine punt on this track . If you find a form horse drawn in the first 5 from 1200-1450m you can banker in the pa normally.
Eg: All I want's last run it ran to a 78............Captains Cup's only sand run a 61........turnaround today 15 lengths +!!!!!!!!!.....there is a long list of similar turnarounds today, which would suggest its probably the course consistency that is at fault.
Recent Vaal Sand results cannot by any stretch of the imagination, be regarded as a good advert for the industry.
I suppose ,every action pleases somebody and the closure delights me..........but I don't own horses any more so won't be needing it as a second chance for my poor ones!

(Racing did very well for many decades without sand racing so closure could just as easily be regarded as an experiment that failed- can't imagine the breeding industry ever deliberately started breeding horses with the Vaal sand in mind!)

Certain horses just prefer certain courses, albeit because of bad limbs, not great actions or another laundry list of issues.....Thing is, I wonder how much of these form tunrarounds can be blamed on the horse and which can be blamed on horses not being prepared for races fully or correctly?

I really think Guy From Dubai has a serious chance at 6-1

I find it a good idea to follow horses who love this track and Big Shot should run a decent race here.
I think Mirage Drive will struggle, 2nd run after a rest and GFD should run well at the weights but he runs better over the mile on sand?
