Another brilliantly written article and it would probably make sense to spread the R2m over shitty maidens or MR 72 midden races ?

But we don`t know the full story yet, we dont know if there is a sponsor or where the money is coming from?

As per usual, we don't know anything - and if Robyn can't get at the details, I'm not sure if anyone could; from an owner's point of view, the R10 million collected by the RA / Kenilworth in nomination fees should be of concern ?

It really is becoming more and more of a balancing act these days - the 'joy' of owning or part-owning one of these magnificent animals and all the potential 'rewards' as so aptly illustrated by the 'Wild One' post, vs the continual irritations - tracks closing down, stake moneys not being allocated in proportion and seemingly disappearing in big black holes, etc.

Robyn is probably one of the best investigative racing journalists in the world..and that I know from first hand dealings with her.

For me R4bar for the Challenge is fantastic. But that's only abt $300k which is global chicken feed.

exactly a Japanese LISTED race is worth more ( than a grade1 in SA )

You win a shite Maiden at Lingfield your lucky to get R60k about the same as winning a Maiden at Turffontein but a months keep in the UK is R20000 + double if not treble what we pay over here..

Top end prize money is KAK but run of the mill shite is definitley on par with what we get for our money

Racing can hardly be blamed for the exchange rate......................they are guilty of enough without that!
What is apparent from the article is the confirmation that racing is a Punch and Judy show in a theatre decorated by smoke and mirrors!
The RA and the NHA are puppets and the entire industry just dances to one tune!

I would far prefer if they threw the whole of the R4bar onto the Computaform Sprint. Gauteng tries so hard to compete with the July and the Met yet we could niche our own race. If the Computaform Sprint was R4bar then you would see an even more interesting race card for the day.
