I would like to see set races that count as qualifiers for these types of races(points system). Those races should be run in Gauteng so that we see raiders having to compete in those races or fear elimination. That would bring more quality racing over a longer period of time which improves turnover. The Cape and Kzn can do the same for the Met and July.

I have always thought that the stakes that owners race for up here in Johannesburg were good? There are some comments on the article on the Sporting Post website that seem to indicate that they should be larger than they are at present. Does anyone with more knowledge on the agreement pertaining to stakes have any comment as to the validity of the allegations made?

I think the stakes for the run of the mill races are top class..

You wont win a mauden in the UK and be able to pay 6 month keep from it

I know the comparison between stakes for major and maiden races are being mentioned in the article, but for me the far bigger issue is the secrecy about the stakes agreement and all those other issues highlighted by the comments on the article - bottom line remains we are still being treated as mushrooms with a 'take it or leave it' attitude - and as many on here are suggesting - quite a few folks are rather just 'leaving' :huh:
