there is absolutely nothing to be gained from suspending Strydom,, it can only cost the betting public much more money than the mistake has cost, punters rely on jockeys of that caliber to survive, he wins on many horses that 98% of other jockeys would maybe have placed on, in my opinion he must receive no more than a small fine, nobody, not you, I or the stipes can teach Striker any thing about being professional, he is his own best critic and im sure he wont make the same mistake again, had another jock been on that horse it probably would have been beaten even further by jockey Fortune

Surprised at you Mr a, so what you are saying is that new rules must be made because striker is a brilliant Jock?

hi Bob, I am a student of form, the most important aspect of form is for the results to be consistent, as i see it the reason for the rule is to guide the riders so as not to make this type of a mistake, and the reason for the suspension or fine is to punish the offender so to prevent them from doing it again, Strydom being the great pro he is, as he has proved with his record, will probably punish himself over and over about this and a suspension wont help, it will only throw form out over the time he spends away as lesser jockeys will take his mounts, if corruption was involved as was not the case a suspension would have been correct, rules are there to protect the punter, its not clever when enforcing the interpretation of them we prejudice them,, anyway its once again just my opinion

What does the forum think about the ride given to Dakiwe yesterday at the Vaal.I don't know who was the replacement jockey on the horse but for me that was the ride of the month by a country mile.

hi Shield, Formgrids is what it is, when you me Strydom and the rest are gone and forgotten Formgrids will still be going, ive given it free for 12 years to the so called "rest" , its not about that, read below and see that mistakes happen to the best
Gallant Man is remembered primarily for his upset loss in the 1957 Kentucky Derby. He would almost certainly have won the race, but his jockey, Hall of Famer Bill Shoemaker, misjudged the finish line and stood up too early in his stirrups, which slowed Gallant Man's rush for the wire and allowed another Hall of Fame jockey, Bill Hartack riding Iron Liege, to take the win by a nose. As noted in books, in articles, and on online sites, Shoemaker's error remains one of the biggest blunders in racing history.

just to let you know i am not one of "their own",, i am not even allowed into a tote VIP lounge,
but what i am saying is there was no corruption involved and Strydom is an asset to the punters, so why punish the punters twice by suspending him

I think the most fascinating thing to come out of all of this is the fact that it has stirred up so much interest from punters because of the fact that a jockey should have won a race that he didn't.They can recognize it because it was so blatant.
What most punters don't even realize is how often they are doing their money before races are even run, either by instruction from trainers who want to reduce ratings or jockeys/trainers giving them an easy so that the horse can be punted next time or the time to follow.
This case is easy to solve,it's just a case of how much time the jock gets.
The real problem the NHA faces is identifying those cases.
That is where the game really is crooked.
