Fact

They set a criteria for the award Kalamain won

Fact they never stuck to their own criteria and awarded Kalamain the award

Wether Kalamain was the best 3yo in PE or not he never won the award on the criteria they set

My point exactly .................any criteria that does not make the best 3yr old, the champion, surely needs review!

Agree on points system to determine winners of each of the categories...

eg.
Grade 1 - 1st gets 24 points, 2nd gets 12 points, 3rd gets 8 points and 4th gets 4 points
Grade 2 - 1st gets 16 points, 2nd gets 8 points, 3rd gets 5 points and 4th gets 3 points
Grade 3 - 1st gets 10 points, 2nd gets 5 points, 3rd gets 3 points and 4th gets 2 points
Other stakes / listed - 1st gets 5 points, 2nd gets 3 points, 3rd gets 2 points and 4th gets 1 points

Cumulative points earned over period determines horse that is champion...places emphasis on competing, in better graded races and consistency rather than a one-off performance influenced by track going, draw bias, luck in running, etc, etc

Well considering they never followed the criteria for the Kalamain award they could have bent the rules for the raiders?

Please be reminded that Feature, Group, Listed and Graded race form, must take precedence as the emphasis is on class. Horses not domiciled in the Eastern Cape do not qualify for selection.

Had a chat with Oscar, what a shame that the rules were not adhered to for the PE awards and if he follows through with what he told me it would be a shame for PE racing.

5th in a Grade 3 means nothing! Only the first 3 horses in any Group, Graded or Listed Races get black type..although Grade 3 has a nice ring to it for some students lol..PS and don't hold your breath for a call
