What is Phumulela's Business strategy
10 years 3 months ago - 10 years 3 months ago
I have just listened to Nico go on and on about a soccer punter who won R750,000 rand on a Saftote Soccer 13........but I have never heard a murmur about very nice returns on Saftote horseracing bets-why are the custodians of the racing stakes prioritizing the marketing of soccer bets over horseracing.
......and punters get the blame for the open bet ??????
People who care about horseracing need to wipe the sh!t out their eyes when assessing what "P" are really all about-they care little for local racing -that was told to me a long time ago by somebody sitting on their EXCO and their ongoing strategy would tend to confirm that!

From Pinky and the Brain
Pinky: Gee, Brain, what do you want to do tonight?
Brain: The same thing we do every night, Pinky - try to take over the world!
Methinks, the (ultimate) aim is to have a monopoly over all aspects of sports / horse-racing betting...

Of that I have no doubt ...... But why is racing not the priority ......."P" was the corporatization of racing and they were given the assets of the racing clubs - they have sold many and now prioritize Soccer betting..............under the noses of their sycophants!

Priority given to soccer / sports betting as margins are very high...no associated costs from staging the event as with horse-racing...sole aim is to maximise profit and shareholder returns and this can only be achieved through focus on high margin "products"...and when you have a monopoly, you control price, supply, etc which yields even greater margins...
But the folly is that gambling in general is not a monopoly so punters will move to other forms of gambling...and we have seen that quite clearly of late...

TN, that is what confuses me ......what is so obvious to you and I and a few others, just escapes so many of those who rely on horseracing for their living and survival.

The key driver of decisions is the share price...most of the decision makers in the industry are big shareholders so increased margins translates into increased profits which enables increased dividend payments and share price increases...the players in the industry have become the decision makers in the industry which creates a conflict between what is important to you as a player (but one part of a much larger industry) and what is important to the industry...a bit like SA that have Irvin Khoza and Kaiser Mautung on the PSL board...are their decisions guided by what is best for the PSL as a whole or their interests in Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs ??

Rob football betting is all the craze. Every Saturday Sky Sports gives you free entry to win £250k. if you predict the correct scores of the 6 chosen matches. If nobody wins the prize, and there have been 3 winners this season already, then the closest to the 6 wins £5k. Horseracing will never give you a free bet to win that sort of money. Sports is the way to go nowadays.

I agree with that, and that is why somebody has to have a strong focus on managing local racing in order for it to survive, and anybody who thinks that "P" should be entrusted with that, given their track record, is dreaming!
The local product is obviously going to have to be virtually terminal before any action is taken!

Can anyone advise. He did mention it was for R1.50.
My question.... is it possible to do a R1.50 bet.
i always thought the minimum outlay was R6.00.

Would be very interesting to know whether the majority of people feel their actions are matching their words?
Interesting how they would justify promoting only big soccer wins within that mission statement?
