If the horse is half decent after the layoff, hewitson will ride the other work riders to sleep in the first.

Firstly very sad to hear that Fort Wood passed away. What a great stallion, sire of sires and broodmare sire. Our thoughts with Jess and the team at Mauritzfontein.
Racing today is at Scottsville where it is going to be very hot !! Going good to firm. Pen 21. We have 5 runners today.
Race 1 Roy's Ambassador coming back from gelding and a short break. Seems to have improved and should run well.
Race 4 Sempre Sempre has not been running badly on the Poly, tries the turf with good draw and jockey should run a good race.
Race 4 Divine Amanda 2 fair runs but very uptight last time. If she keeps calm has shown good work so could run well.
Race 7 Night Dancer ran a much better race last time over course and distance repeat should put her in the mix.
Race 8 Mr Royal blinkers on and work good, from good draw could surprise.
Hope you have a good day and don't die of heat !!

R1 Comment by TML on Hewitson earlier probably fair but Ntlebi does not have a bad overall record and Seeburn may go on from his first ride. Probably a race to avoid but I've gone Tiger Tim (gelded) x Roy's Donkey

R2 Another possibly best avoided but... Silver Kavalier x King's Knight

R3 Royal Life x Crevasse x Prince Of Arabia

R4 I like Sempre Sempre here. Lto possibly too far and form of penultimate has worked out well. New to the turf a concern. Big danger for me is Liqourice Moon. If others were better drawn then it would be different but from the 1 box I'll go with Among Saints for the trifecta spot.

R5 Open market but for me a battle between His Approval and Seeking The Dream. I am with HA who showed a return to form lto and MAY benefit from the drop back in d and has the blinkers applied. Fly Peg Fly for my trifecta.

R6 Wide open. I'll chance going with the formline behind Bermudabreeze and on that I think Cheshire Cat, over the extra 200 may prove the one to beat. Not a jockey I love but he was on this one lto so... Fire The Rocket has something of a ? over the d but was staying on lto in soft conditions. A better start for King Alfred would put him right in the mix and those three will form my 1-2-3 but respect for Risky Rosco and Legend Dancer. The value could lie with King's Approval on whom I will take a nibble. He may prefer the turf and his last three Poly runs were over 1400. Lto on the turf (this c/d) he was close behind Legend's Dancer despite being drawn 15. I am not so sure the low draw is as vital as it once was but he back then 15 was definitely a negative and gets the 1 box here. Fitness etc has to be assumed though following a 10 week break.

R7 ?????? lol I'm gong with Night Dancer, if she can reproduce her last effort when the blinkers were applied then I think she could be the right one. A zillion ?s mark though and a race where confidence can't be booming. despite their high draws I'm going with Boomsheiktheroom and Throne for the places.

R8 Treble the ?s shown for R7!!! Crime Victim probably looks the right one but his Scottsville form leaves a load to be desired for me and though he could well win I would rather look elsewhere but where??? lol Melson - distance? Priceless gem, has had a good c run over 2400 but possibly prefers the poly. Keeping it short, I'll chance Terracotta Soldier e/w at the prices. Seems to have issues but was a very decent effort in penultimate when returning from 42 weeks off. May not have enjoyed the poly lto, has been away a further 16 weeks and trip may be short of his best but worth chancing imo in this "complex" field. Given that scenario, I'll go with the low weights and two outsiders for the places... Moon Shot has run well fresh previously and though his last run, his first in KZN, is a big negative, it was on the poly. From a decent draw he could go better than the market suggests. Battle Hammer has a lousy draw but a return to the turf could see a big improvement.

R9 The one ride for AM is noted but on form I really can't see past Bold Attitude who is given the additional booster of the 1 box. Guilty As Charged and Seven Cheers may be first of the rest to use the binoculars to watch the winner hit the line.

Some tricky (sh1tty) races but could be one where a buck is won or 20 lost!

Be(s)t of luck to all

Silver Kavalier for me in race 2, straight bet to cover all my outlays, so holding thumbs!

Duncan Howells stable in good form with a top jockey aboard what I believe is a great double, Royal Life x Crime Victim, some 8/1 yesterday with a 10% deduction in CV race.

Happy punting all!

Englander or anyone else when you study form in natal and pe and horses have had a few runs on the polytrack and now going back to grass do you take the poly form as is or do you go back to its runs on the grass ..what im trying to ask is do you believe as we have been told and also backed up by the fact that grass and poly ratings are the same that a horses form is the same on both surfaces?
