Solar Triptych has scope but meets stronger this time, MR is up and is short in the betting. I'll rather go for Brad's Surge who is back to his c & d. Facebook also has a chance if effective this distance.

Very disappointing to see one's money disappearing

So Derrick David is not riding and the only replacement they could find was Donovan Yeo - and obviously the plan was to go and set the pace for the favorite - never mind that the horse did not have the pace - not saying Suzie's Arrow would have won, but if I was Mr Plersch I would be a bit peeved - to say the least :(

I'm pretty sure many will be asking the same question come Saturday race 9.

Am I missing something?

Rob,

It could mean that the majority of bets are on this horse for a place.EG:

Total place pool ( hypothetically and for illustration purposes only)..
R100.00 ( less take out of 25%)= R75.00 total pool for distribution...

HORSE 1 HAS R5 PLACES ON IT......SO DO HORSES 2 3 AND 4 HAVE 5 places on THEM.
However horse 5 has 80 places on it....

Result is 1 from 2 from 5............

Therefore horse 5 has to take a third of the pool for payout purposes.....

So 8o punters share R25.00..............thus a VERY small payout.....

Hope this helps..............

Fancy Stavinsky in the next. Play Each way: 7s a win, Evens a place.
Holding form nicely, hoping for a nice run

It undoubtedly means the most places are on it ................but in such huge pools the bias must be huge to have that much affect??(the fav was paying 40c a place at one stage)
(I still wish they would declare the take-out of co-mingled pools though! )

Good win by Solar Triptych considering Marko pulling Facebook straight infront of him. Surely there must be a clear gap before jockeys pulling their mount over?

Have to agree...........Excuses for Awesome Adam as first run on surface but the stable companion would have been odds on if the fav had scratched, so no reason to sacrifice that one!!!
